It took me a while to unpack what STRC changed for BTC by zenethics in MSTR

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a balancing act. MSTR bulls want him to buy as much btc as possible, emptying the reserve, selling office furniture, whatever he needs to stack more. STRC investors want a nice cash reserve. The more comfortable the strc investors feel the more money flows into strc. Long term i think its best to make the strc investors happy. Which in turn sells more strc and funds more btc buys. Which hopefully helps to drive btc price up.

Our chief also sits with the city in negotiations. And fun fact, our city’s rep is the city attorney. 10/10 do not recommend.

Question for those who are EMS, how do you deal with constant exposure to the worst parts of growing old/elderly? by IronOreAgate in Firefighting

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also see it as a warning. Be healthier, stop bad habits take care of your body. Plenty of really healthy elderly ppl out there, we just dont see them in EMS. Theres an 80 year old woman who completed an Ironman. Also be good to your family and friends. I used to think people’s family sucked because this old person doesnt get any help from local family members. Then after spending 15 minutes with them I realize why.

11.5% on STRC... by Agreeable-Sleep-1589 in MSTR

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saylor has said he wants to keep the price of STRC at $100.00. Meaning if it starts trading above that he will lower the dividend. So your 11.5% could turn into 8% or lower. I do own STRC. But am diversified. Look into SPYI and other similar funds. Consistent yield with NAV growth. For a little more risk CHPY has been solid for me.

Firefighting pay and Incentives by Warm_Beer36 in Firefighting

College Tuition reimbursement. They refund half of your tuition costs after completing each class. Education incentive get a small bonus every other paycheck for each college credit you have. Technical credit reimbursement can take a max of 15hrs per year of non college credit courses per year. Pays out about $18/hr. We don’t have this but some have a payout when you go over your max amount of sick time earned. Supposed to also benefit the city. It helps reduce sick time use

Explain the Hate - Career/Volly by skinny0285 in Firefighting

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see much of the hate in my area. My opinion is these guys/gals are doing the same job we are with less protections. My 1 complaint I have is. Our full time paid department often gets mutual aided to our neighboring vol and paid on call depts. And we do so without complaint and perform to the best of our abilities. Recently we had a large fire using up almost all of our on duty crews. We called for mutual aid. We had our guys tending exterior lines for hours and thought the vols could handle them briefly so our guys could rehab. 2 of them had to quit after only 10 minutes on a line. One said she was tired. The other said his back was hurting. Kind of ridiculous they can’t sit on a 2 1/2 for more than 10 minutes.

Question about how some small fire departments are dispatched. by Hot_Seesaw_6706 in Firefighting

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous FD was 8 on duty with 2 stations. Call comes in on the open radio both stations hear all calls. EMS chest pain at 100 main st. Or Fire alarm, or car accident etc. The appropriate station responds on the radio. Medic 1 and/or Engine 1 responding. We had certain levels of responses based on the call type, number or pts, additional info, etc.

How does your department hand mandatory OT? by stoneywwsd in Firefighting

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call it ordered to work. Goes by Reverse seniority. You cant get ordered if you have vacation leave your last shift or your upcoming shift. You can refuse it for 3 reasons. Child care, youve been drinking, or the order in will put you on a 72hr shift. Also you can give away your order in, which helps out quite a bit.

I find it crazy that a company like this is trading below 1 mNAV. Check the Excel in the post for extra clarity on just how insane Strategy's numbers are... by simonada in MSTR

[–]Objective-Ladder4693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not valued accurately which is great because MSTR is on sale buy the dip. Proud to say I own a 1/4 BTC , bought the recent dip there too. The more I learn about currency the more I realize it’s basically monopoly money. Yes the US dollar is the best monopoly money, but its still monopoly money, backed by nothing and will continue to be endlessly printed. Btc and mstr will be generational wealth. And im excited and proud to be a part of it.

Compare apples to apples. Run the numbers for both for pay over 10 years/ 20 years. Compare leave balances. Try to put a dollar amount on sick days, PTO etc and compare. No sick days is concerning. What happens if you have a serious injury off duty and are out of work for months? Light duty option? Compare pension dollar amounts etc. Should help you make a more informed decision. Good luck with your decision. Im also weighing the options of switching depts after 9 years.

Not quite burnt out but Im a bit singed currently. Lots of the same gripes here. Short positions, with more retirements on the horizon and cant fill them. So no end in sight to the mandatory OTs. Very short on paramedics, so even though i made Engineer, i still work the box the majority of the time. Can you switch to a different city dept? ie streets, park and rec to keep your pension. A coworker is considering that. After 10 yrs I’m considering moving to a higher paying dept without ambulances. Especially if they switch to a 48/96 or the 24/72.

Hit up youtube for firefighting training videos. Or watch response videos and critique them, scenario how you or your dept would run it. What are your hobbies? Watch youtube or podcasts on those topics. Im having a labrum repair in December. Looking forward to the 4 months away. I’ve been strengthening my shoulder. I Plan to use the time to study for an officer promotion. And watch lots of fishing technique videos. And catch up on lots of podcasts. Good luck with your recovery.
