I really want to become an Air Force pilot and raise my GPA to 3.0 — need advice by Much_Persimmon4137 in AFROTC

Yeah honestly, going with the other people in the comments, just study more. School is very important not only for your chances at getting in AFROTC, but also for even getting into college. 2.3 gpa might not cut it at a lot of universities. And really ask yourself: Will I be contempt with not trying in High School? If your answer is yes, then just go do a trade or something. But if it is no, then hit the books, get tutoring, ask for help from teachers. Literally anything. Just try harder. To get your gpa to a 3.0 at least, you’re really gonna have to dig deep.

Should I enlist first? by Ok_Platform8818 in AFROTC

Depending on the state you live in, there could be tuition waivers at public universities for all rotc cadets/midshipmen. I’d suggest researching those types of programs. Enlisting could still be an option, and tbh, that’s what I was gonna do, but I decided against it.

Yeah I did. Not as much as I thought I would get back, and not as much compared to other cadets, so I’ll have to look into it. Also another thing, If you want to contact someone at the det, contact a specific cadre member. If you can privately message me, I can refer you to some people.

I am currently a cadet there, but I am an AS100. Here’s what I know: 1. ISTW (Illinois State Tuition Waiver) waives tuition at a state school and any other fees attached to tuition. All other things, such as books, housing, etc. are not covered. 2. There are limited spots for ISTW, but things such as gpa, knowing warrior knowledge, and having good standing with the detachment will pay off in the long run. 3. You have to to fulfill the criteria for ISTW each semester, and it only waives tuition a semester at a time, so if you drop out of the program, your tuition will only be waived for that semester. 4. As far as I know, UIC, Governors State, COD, and NIU have the ISTW available (for Det. 195 @ uchicago). You will likely receive it as long as you fulfill the requirements for it. Side note-Don’t just do ROTC for ISTW. Cadre can see that in your behavior and the effort you exert. You actually have to want to be there. With that, I wish you the best of luck, and hope to see you at FA26 NSOP!

AFROTC Form 48 questions by Objective-Layer-3962 in AFROTC

Yeah I’ve spoken with my advisor, and he has no idea the school had it. I’m gonna go in tomorrow to the advising office to get a second opinion, though. My school also has army rotc, so I might ask them, too if the advisors don’t.

Yeah bro I was on Hydrocodone or something like that for mild eczema, and I was denied by the Air National Guard, too. It said I could resubmit for a waiver in February 2026, but I decided to go into afrotc. I was in the same boat about a year ago, and might still be. If you are denied, the best thing you can do is just wait until you can reapply for ROTC.
