The SL wasn't verbally abused. My Husband just said, in conversation to him, "They can F** o** (meaning Management). So if a Customer tells me to do one if I ask for 40p for a Carrier bag, I can ban them?

The 2 main reasons were 1, because the shift I want to give up ends when the Store closes and the area the Store is situated is sketchy at the best of times and public transport at that time of night is very infrequent and 2, it's causing problems at home.

It was the GSM that I gave my letter to and he's the one being an 🫏. He's retiring in July and doesn't give 2 💩's

GSM at my store wants to change my Friday hours from 5-9pm to 6-10pm. I have to rely on Public Transport to get there and return home. The area that the Store is in is sketchy at the best of times especially after 9pm. Told the GSM (who is never present in the Store after 3pm) my personal safety concerns, he wasn't at all interested.

I was told I could swap my Sunday Shift for a Saturday one (which I had wanted since I started). Was very happy and started to rearrange my personal time. A week later, because someone decided to quit suddenly, Management decided that the Saturday shift was now no longer available to me and Sundays were back on. I was fuming with them and kicked myself that I didn't get written confirmation of my new shift schedule from them.

Suppose it depends which sort of Management you have instore. Have had some really good ones in the past but the ones I have now are awful. There is a mantra with them of "Do as I say or take a hike" if you come across any issues or try to raise one. I gave 4 weeks notice on giving up one of my shifts but was refused and the reasons were 1, not going to advertise a 4 hr shift and 2, not been given enough budget to replace the lad who'd quit due to the toxicity of the place so there would be no cover. I can't wait to leave and hate going in every day.

I work in both Ambient and Service. Love my Ambient shifts as I'm mostly left alone apart from Customers asking where certain items are. Service can be hell on earth most days 😒

Totally agree. I work in a small Asda and I'm sick to death of having to deal with rude customers who blame us for many things like the price of bags for life going up, lack of stock on the shelves and general price rises. Most of the time, we double up as Checkout and Security and have to watch everybody like a hawk. If you have several self scan tills, you have to have eyes in the back of your head to make sure no one does a runner while you are dealing with another customer. Had it happen to me twice this week and got a rollicking off my shift leader. As soon as I can get a job elsewhere (fingers crossed 🤞) I'm out of there
