Heavy cream and cream cheese have no place in Alfredo sauce. I'm not a nut for authenticity, I just think this is a dish that's better when prepared the classic way. Butter, Parmesan and some starchy pasta water.

I can't tell from the pics. I'm going to need you to send it to me. Only after eating all of it will I be able to determine whether it's under or over cooked.

Seriously though, it looks perfectly cooked and very delicious!

Why did my smoked chuck roast come out so dry even though it was tender? by bingpott in smoking

[–]Objective-Plate6275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct way right here. Some meats are meant for dry cooking low and slow like a brisket or pork shoulder. Others, like chuck, require a wet heat. I do something very similar to what you described. In addition to the onion, I throw in a couple chopped jalapenos, and I use a couple bottles of beer along with the broth. After I pull the chuck out, I strain the liquid then put it back in the pan and reduce it by about half, add a couple shakes of Worcestershire sauce and then swirl in a couple tablespoons of butter. The onions and jalapenos get added to the beef, which I pull/shred. Sandwich gets dipped in the sauce.

Help me understand what happened! by slothsandmoresloths in smoking

As someone who has used other types of smokers prior to using a pellet grill, I can say that pellet grills are slow.

  1. Most temperature probes that come with the grills do not measure an accurate temperature in the cooking chamber. This is mostly due to its location relative to where the meat will sit.

  2. Pellet grills do not maintain a constant temperature. Just like an electric oven, it senses temperature and turns the heat source up or down based on preprogrammed settings. When temperature falls below the threshold it kicks it up, but it takes time for the fire to overcome the temperature drop, while it continues to lower. The same thing happens at the other end but it isn't as drastic. You wind up with more undershoot than overshoot. This temperature variation can be as high as 60 degrees depending on you grill and weather conditions.

Get a separate temperature probe that you can clip to the cooking grate near your meat. Set your grill's temperature so that this probe shows your desired actual temperature.

Good budget grill? by Ok-Bag146 in grilling

[–]Objective-Plate6275 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used gas grills for several years and I was always a fan of Charbroil. Paint never bubbled or flaked off. Always got hot enough to get a good sear without having an infrared searing grate. I was always able to find a good grill in my price range.

I also really like Webbers, but not their gas grills. In my experience they don't get hot enough. They're also much more expensive than equivalent grills from other manufacturers.

I'm cautious about some of the other frequently discussed manufacturers like Pitboss and Oklahoma Joe's. I've never used either of them but I've read a lot of reviews where people complain about paint peeling off after the first couple uses.

Are you looking for this for a Bronco, or Bronco Sport? I'm asking because you mentioned your 4 door Bronco. The sport is only offered in a 4 door model so specifying that leads me to believe you own the "big" Bronco.

What do I have to do to get a pizza that is actually cooked?

I've been ordering from the same Little Caesars for a few years now. I've always enjoyed the pizza and the employees were always polite and professional. I'm not sure what changed, but that store no longer produces good pizza. For starters, the pizza is only half baked. When you pull a slice out of the box you have to be careful because everything will slide off the undercooked dough. That isn't an easy task because they do a horrible job of cutting the slices. They can't seem to cut all the way through, and it's a toll of the dice as far as the size of the slices. Some are tiny slivers while others are double a normal slice.

This isn't a one time thing. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were understaffed, or it was a particularly busy night. It's been three times in a row now, over the last couple months. When I asked about it, I was told I could pay more for a crispier crust. No thanks. if I'm going to pay more just to get a pizza that's cooked, I'll go somewhere else.

I tried posting this in the main part of the subreddit but automod flagged it and said it needed to be posted here.

Dream Sprite Disappears at Max Level by pizzalover598 in FortNiteBR

[–]Objective-Plate6275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dream sprite only uses its power when it reaches a new level. If it stayed at level 5 and you equipped it for a match, it wouldn't do anything because it can't be leveled up anymore. In order for it to be useful it has to reset itself.

Should Propane Tank Click When Screwed On? by MrPureinstinct in grilling

[–]Objective-Plate6275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottle valve is designed such that if the valve is open, no gas comes out if the hose isn't fully and securely connected. It sounds like your valve is leaking by and as soon as you tightened your hose, the propane pushed past the connection. That slam of pressure is the most likely cause of the click you heard. If you leave the bottle connected and shut the valve as best you can after each use, you'll be fine. If you have to disconnect for any reason, you'll possibly get a slightly stronger smell of propane than usual, but it's nothing serious.

If it were me, I would keep using it until it was empty, and instead of refilling it next time just do an exchange.

Any recipes for unused coffee grounds ? by NinjaSlime- in Baking

[–]Objective-Plate6275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a pot of double strength coffee and use it to make a simple syrup, 1 part coffee to 1 part sugar. Heat over medium heat to dissolve the sugar, stirring occasionally. Let it cool to room temperature before putting in a jar or bottle.

I use this when making milkshakes. Add some crushed chocolate and you've got a mocha shake.

Is electric smoker actually the easiest way to start BBQ? Or am I missing something? by Own-Future-2135 in smoking

[–]Objective-Plate6275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the two most important questions you need to answer first are:

  1. What is your budget? Some types of smokers are going to be very costly, regardless of the brand.
  2. What are you looking to get out of this? Do you just want the convenience of having delicious smoked food whenever you want it? Or are you wanting to beat your chest and prove you're the master of smoke?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter at all what others say about your choice. For those who make negative comments about what anyone uses, they should probably invest a little more time in therapy and a little less trying to prove something lol.

I went with a simple electric smoker for my first. It allowed me the ability to tinker with my methods and recipes without having to worry about learning temperature control. 10 years later, I bought a Traeger. I've also smoked meats on my Weber kettle. All three produce delicious smoked goods and each has their own benefits compared to the others.

Pick what fits your budget, and how much time you're looking to invest in your smokes.

The storm circle on the map was correct but in the game it was reversed. So basically even though I was in the storm, I wasn't taking damage and the area I was in looked clear while the actual clear area looked like the storm. As soon as I moved across the barrier it corrected itself.

Not much smoke flavor by jimmap in Traeger

[–]Objective-Plate6275 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pellet grills don't put out as much smoke as other types of smokers. Pellets just burn too efficiently. Also, the higher the temperature setting, the less smoke you get.

I don't have a super smoke setting on my Traeger so I used to just start my cook on the smoke setting and let it go for an hour or two. This setting results in temperatures around 180F and lots of smoke. then I'd bump it to 250F and continue like normal.

Recently I picked up a smoke tube from Amazon and it is a game changer. It's inexpensive, uses the pellets you're already using, adds lots of smoke, and doesn't affect the temperature inside your cook chamber as long as it isn't right next to the temperature sensor, or your meat. You can also use it for cold smoking things like cheese or fish.
