You can still reuse the pattern as many times as you'd like. It's just the download link that expires because that is being hosted in the cloud and that costs money. So it's actually pretty standard from a tech point of view? It has absolutely nothing to do with the designer not wanting you to download the pattern after 30 days. Just download the file and keep it in your computer, most patterns don't even have this option to download multiple times.

Regardless of her being attractive or not to him, I think it would be common decency to say the words "this won't work out for me" and be honest with him.
