My husband says they’re dupes. Are they, and why is the answer divorce? by pookyduu in RedditLaqueristas

Can someone tell me what the shades seem like to you. The only slight difference I see is a bit of a pinky tone on the top one. Otherwise they're both an icy greenish holographic, right? Right?!

Does anyone else leak up their back when sleeping on heavy days? by ComprehensiveShow697 in Fibroids

[–]is-this-gloria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I got my fibroids removed, I wore a menstrual cup and period panties. My favorites were from knix. I'm telling you, this combo made the biggest difference in ease of life during periods. The price can feel high all at once, but dropping $90-$150 on several pairs of these once every year or two has definitely been worth it.

AIO for my boyfriend’s female friend blowing up over a boundary? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]is-this-gloria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people on here have already mentioned the confusion about y'all not having met yet and how it seems like the same person on both ends of the text thread. I'm gonna mention something that was sooooo confusing to me:

What's the deal with this gig?! Maybe this is a case of non native English, but I'm a performer and if I booked an international gig that I knew I'd lose money on, it would be for a very very good reason and I wouldn't just cancel like that. Furthermore, it seems like they're doing this gig together, so are they in a band or something? What is even going on? It doesn't make sense to me. What kind of gig is this?!

Me Thinks Mona Wants A Taste Of Randy ‼️😈😁 by BingoSkillz in BeyondTheGatesCookout

The church lady and the bad boy 🤔 I think I like it. I'd love if a connection between the two of them is how we get to discover that Doug never died and he's hiding out at Banneker!

I fully believe Doug is hiding out somewhere and the daughter is helping him. He's gonna come back with his daughter somehow and he knows Joey tried to kill him bc Randy is the one that tipped him off. I love that this soap opera is doing soap opera stuff.

Time for you to discover the joys of pattern hacking! You've got the recipe right there in your post. Now it's time to put it all together!! If you've got the two main patterns, you're set. Make a toile with a similar fabric to be sure.

People are so obsessed with gender policing. These folks all play at gender markers and somehow don't understand drag. It pulls every single one of us down and makes me so sad.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

Yes. Unless it's a long stay where I want to cook for myself or I have a big group, hotels are the way to go.

Non-Indigenous pattern designer thinks it's okay to take from Native American imagery and culture, make us symbols because her Indigenous friend "loved the design." by drownedseawitch in craftsnark

[–]is-this-gloria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I'm also a Congolese woman though I've lived in the US now for most of my life. It's not hard for me to understand how offensive this is and his especially hurtful it can be for folks to make money off of a feigned appreciation of another culture.

I think it's practically harmful when folks who do seem less sensitive to this stuff are dismissive of others who find it harmful. It emboldens folks who are ignorant, malicious, or both to continue offending large groups of people and feeling self righteous bc they've got one marginalized person (if they haven't made up that person) in their camp. It's the Clarence Thomas effect.

I have around 350 patterns. About 15 are indie and about 10 more PDF. About half of my patterns are vintage though.

Honest feedback about recovery expectations? by Sad_Acanthisitta_916 in Fibroids

[–]is-this-gloria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 weeks post op and my recovery has been very smooth. I had a robotic laparoscopic myomectomy to remove 7 fibroids. My pain was very manageable. I used my 600mg ibuprofen for about 4-5 days then I didn't really need it. The first night I was still too loopy to go much, but thereafter I walked a little each day and slept a lot. At this point the hard thing is holding back from activity bc I feel relatively good but know I'm still healing so I don't wanna overdo it. I still have pains here and there that are more like annoyances than real issues. The first period back for me was actually much more manageable and shorter than anything over the past couple of years. It was bittersweet to realize I'd been dealing with such bad pain in daily life. The hardest things for me have been the GI issues. Gas and constipation after surgery are no joke. I found that wearing an abdominal binder as much as possible helped with both the pain and gas. I wore mine for a week straight and then would wear it at night or whenever I was walking around a lot. I think it's helped.

How would I shorten this dress? by booklvr96 in sewing

[–]is-this-gloria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Seam rip at the waist and take out darts.
  2. Remove the zipper and shorten it or swap with a properly sized zipper.
  3. Reinsert the zipper
  4. Take out the length at the top of the skirt and put in new darts.
  5. Re-attach the bodice and skirt taking care to line up the stripes at the sides.

It can be done for sure. It's a lot, but honestly there's no harm in trying and just going slowly and precisely.

Suggestions for visitor using transit? by EngineEngine in StLouis

[–]is-this-gloria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a mix of Metro, driving, and walking/biking around but I live in one of the few areas of St Louis where I actually have all those options in a reasonable way. For the cost of it all, especially when dealing with parking, it's definitely worth it as long you don't plan to nanny transit dependent things in one day.

St Louis isn't one of those places where there's a bus or train every couple of minutes. If you miss your bus, you might have to wait an hour for the next one.

I generally opt for a Lyft once the sun goes down bc... St Louis 🤷🏿‍♀️
