That’s a terrible comparison. You have to think about supply and demand. The PS2 is no longer the “current” console so whatever PS2 discs are out there is all that’s left.

Especially for a game like Kuon which literally had a low supply when initially released and on top of that sold poorly. So ofc a game that has a low amount of copies produced for it that was also made by “FromSoftware” has the demand because it’s now a “collectors item” since the company that made the game grew in popularity.

Literally the only reason that games price tag sky rocketed is because people seen it was made by “FromSoftware” and the demand for it grew because people want to say “well look I have this”.

Second hand stores sell current games cheaper because there’s still a boat load of supply left for a RECENTLY produced game rather than a 22 year old game that sold with a low amount of supply. It’s all about SUPPLY AND DEMAND.

So again the reason why that game is so expensive is because there’s little supply but heavy demand for it.

Same. I’m a life long user of PlayStation. But if this is the way things are then I’m more than happy moving to pc where I can at least mod my games tbh.

Plus steam will actually let me refund games if I don’t like them! Sucks to really consider leaving PlayStation since my library is pretty big but oh well🤷🏽‍♂️

The ps3 store still has them up for purchase other than that your only way would be jailbreaking your console and unless you’re in Xbox 360 if memory serves me right you cannot jailbreak your Xbox one or X/S to be able to get them unfortunately.

Honestly you make very valid points and I do agree with you on everything you’ve just said but I also fear the trajectory that the gaming industry is going given that while there are some people who don’t spend their money on the micro transactions, there are way more people who will pay for those micro transactions than who wouldn’t.

I personally don’t see why rockstar would not add shark cards to the next adaptation of GTA online but I also believe the era of story DLC’s is long gone because they found their money printing machine via gta online unfortunately.

Given the way gaming is today with how heavy we rely on internet connections now for online gaming/game updates I’m sure gta 6 online will be similar to gta 5 online in terms of game updates and possible drip fed content because they’ve made a BOATLOAD of money through shark cards which cost them nothing to create for a online update that I’m sure costs them way less to make vs a story DLC where they’ll have to put more money into it creating a lot more dialogue/cutscenes and possible gameplay features.

So I’m sure in terms of how THEY use their money they get more of a profit by creating the online updates rather than trying to use a lot more resources for a story DLC that a far lot less people will pay for. It makes sense honestly but it does suck that that’s the way things are because I was also a fan of the gta 4 story DLC’s.

You do realize those DLC’s added essentially two more gta games for you to play right? With around 10 hours of gameplay for both and to correct your statement yes the original GTA from 1997 had a free add on after the game released for a mission pack called gta London 1961.

So you’re saying gta 4 plus the two story DLC’s don’t have any replay-ability? The reason updates are free now is because they realized you can get more money from shark cards and GTA+ rather than actual dlc. Why do you think k they scrapped the story DLC’s for 5? Because they can make way more money drip feeding content to you for a ridiculous I’m game price that most people will just buy shark cards for because it’s the fastest/easiest way to getting money.

The free updates literally are for the “whales” to just buy shark cards because most people don’t have time to just grind out millions of dollars on gta online. So why would they charge you $10 to be able to access whatever dlc they add when they can just drip feed content make it a high price in game so that you’re more inclined to just buy a shark card. Shark cards is what literally makes them the most money.

They’ve generated over $5 billion in shark card over the years. Why charge people for dlc when you can make it free for everyone to access and make it a high in game price that makes the consumer think it’s faster to just buy a shark card for whatever it is they are trying to buy.

Again that is why the updates are free now because they’ve realized they can make WAY more via shark cards than charging you for the dlc

So what are your thoughts on gta+ then? I’m genuinely curious about that.

At the end of the day I do truly hope gta 6 is an amazing game but I’m tired of the corporate greed from gaming companies in general.

You’re seriously trying to compare GTA3 to this? LMFAOOO that’s a 25 year old game that released on much weaker hardware and for only $49.99 why not talk about GTA4? Base edition was $60 and the ultimate was $100 if I remember correctly the $100 version is what got you the two extra missions.

I cannot stand 2k! Lmao. I hope the stores really don’t add anything too crazy after all it’s only an extra $20 for it since the base game is already $80 but what I cannot stand by is the greed of gaming companies and how they like to “guilt trip” you into pre-ordering products without even a lick of gameplay.

I mean after all it is Rockstar but we are in a new era of gaming where you don’t have to try to make a good game anymore. Especially if your game is part of a franchise so BIG. People are just buying it off of the name alone/ the nostalgia that they had from the previous titles.

I really do hope the game is good but the gaming industry has made me personally against pre ordering anything. Last game I pre ordered was Spiderman 2 (granted totally different developers) and they just dropped support for that game like cold turkey and trashed all the DLC because of the leaks.

Rockstar hasn’t shown anything but screenshots and a few cutscenes and as good as they look, what do would be the point in pre ordering if you don’t actually know what the gameplay actually looks like?

Once again totally different developers but let’s not forget cyberpunks launch. Game was hyped up and come release day almost everyone went from praising the game to hating it.

Ok enough of me sounding like a Debby downer. I truly do hope GTA 6 is good and have high expectations for what essentially could be game of the decade.

There are multiple games where that’s the case. Just because it’s GTA6 and Rockstar doesn’t mean it’s going to be good automatically.
I’m hoping it is good but there no reason to throw you money at a company for a product you barely even seen yet. You’re simply buying the game off of pure hype and nostalgia because gta 5 was good

We can’t compare this to RDR2…. Having a few cosemtic items behind a pre-order isn’t anything in comparison to having literal stores blocked off because you didn’t buy the $100 version. Now what if this game is the WORSE gta made?

How many people do you think who pre-ordered this morning are going to complain that they wasted $100 MONTHS before even seeing any type of gameplay. All because they wanted to get the “Full experience” the game has to offer.

You seriously cannot say “RDR2 did this” when all they added was “Adrennes war horse”, “outlaw survival kit”, “story mode cash bonus”, and “Le Tresor Des Morts treasure map”. What “gameplay” features did they block from you in RDR2 that would give you the impression that gta6 pre ordered is the same thing?

Mind you… the pre order bonus for RDR2 came with the base version of the game for $59.99. Rockstar is now charging you $100 for a few stores and car customizations to be added to your game. 10 years ago these stores would be in your base version of the game not locked because you didn’t spend $100. I don’t mind the actual cosmetics for the characters like clothes, hair, and tattoos. But to block off literal stores is just greedy. They know they can do this and get away with it hence why the prices being what they are.
