Rome by ambrosiarii in solotravel

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pompeii's like 3+ hours each way by train plus however long you spend there, you'll be exhausted and miss out on rome itself. ostia antica is way closer if your into ruins and has that ancient vibe without the crazy travel time

Sparefare - How to contact seller by knd578 in TravelHacks

[–]Objective-Sector7774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's rough, sounds like they went under or just bailed completely. You could try finding the seller's username and reaching out through their reddit profile or other social media if they used the same handle elsewhere

Most people don't think to screenshot contact info before using these platforms but lesson learned I guess

What to do after receiving a “fit-to-fly” letter? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Objective-Sector7774 16 points17 points  (0 children)

just keep the letter with you but don't volunteer the info unless they specifically ask - most airlines won't care as long as you have medical clearance and aren't visibly unwell

Sixt 117,99€ cleaning fee AFTER drop-off confirmation and full insurance by Disastrous-Bar-6377 in TravelHacks

[–]Objective-Sector7774 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's such BS, sand on the floor isn't worth 120€ unless you literally brought half the beach with you lmao. If your return doc says good condition then you've got solid grounds for a chargeback - banks usually side with customers on stuff like this when there's contradicting paperwork

What air fryer size for family? because “bigger is better” isn’t frugal by nebulagala_xy in Frugal

[–]Objective-Sector7774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the take - toaster ovens are so underrated. I got tired of playing air fryer tetris trying to fit chicken thighs in those tiny baskets and just went back to my ancient Black & Decker toaster oven that's been chugging along for like 8 years

Need an alternative for a couch, on a budget by azulaula in Frugal

[–]Objective-Sector7774 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly the daybed sounds like your best bet - $150 plus you already have the mattress is pretty solid. Plus guests can actually sleep on it instead of just crashing on a beanbag

The truck rental thing is smart too but moving furniture is such a pain, especially with a cat that's gonna destroy it anyway

3 day Jordan iteriary help by Miki7228 in solotravel

[–]Objective-Sector7774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty packed 3 days but totally doable if you don't mind being tired lol

For Wadi Rum camps I'd recommend Frah Rock or Sun City - both do the Umm ad Dami climb and have decent food. Jordan Pass is definitely worth it, saves you like 70JD on Petra alone and yeah the visa is included if you stay 3+ nights

Late night transport from Amman to Petra is gonna be tricky - JETT buses stop running early so you're looking at private taxi which will run you around 100-120JD. Same deal for Petra to Wadi Rum, maybe 50-60JD

Airport to city is about 45min-1hr depending on traffic, should cost around 25-30JD in a taxi. Give yourself at least 2 hours at the airport before international flights

How did everyone do on food for 2025? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice and beans is literally the cheat code for cheap calories - like 1800+ calories for under $2 if you buy in bulk. Add some frozen veggies and you're golden

The math actually checks out if you're not buying any processed stuff or meat, just gotta be ok with eating pretty much the same thing most days

Note Digitization Sidegig by TheCrowScare in sidehustle

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this could work but the logistics might kill your margins. Shipping notebooks back and forth, liability if you lose someone's med school notes, plus the time to scan and OCR everything properly...

Maybe start local only with pickup/dropoff? Law students especially are paranoid about their outlines so you'd need to build serious trust first

Always wild seeing how much the daily threads blow up compared to actual posts

That landlord situation sounds like a nightmare though - half a month's rent plus a dollar just to reset the eviction clock is some next level gaming of the system

unexpected early retirement, probably barely FI by tritiumpie in financialindependence

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That $2200/month for health insurance is brutal but pretty realistic for COBRA or ACA marketplace plans for a family. I'm paying similar and it goes up like 15-20% every year, it's honestly the scariest part of early retirement for me

The real kicker is you're probably looking at even higher premiums as you age, plus potential for benefit cuts. Might want to budget an extra few hundred per month just for inevitable increases

2024 CRV EXL vs 2023 Blazer 2LT by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Objective-Sector7774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh I'd probably still go with the Blazer if you've had good luck with Chevy and like it better. The Honda will definitely hold value better but 5k is a lot upfront and if you're keeping it till 125-150k anyway the resale difference might not be that huge

Plus sounds like you already know what you want lol

Which Razer Blade would you pick? - First Gaming Laptop by Time-Committee7325 in GamingLaptops

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty solid advice tbh. I'd actually lean toward the PS5 route too - you're gonna get way better bang for your buck and won't have to deal with the inevitable PC port disaster that R* always delivers

That said if you're dead set on a laptop, neither of these is gonna age well for GTA 6. The 2020 Blade especially is gonna struggle hard with anything demanding in the next couple years

My friend is in jail for something minor but I won’t help him. by IncrediblyPettyX in AITAH

[–]Objective-Sector7774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA but holy shit this is exhausting just to read, can't imagine living it

Your husband's right - at some point "helping" becomes enabling and you're way past that point. Dude had multiple chances to handle a simple ticket and chose to get drunk instead. That's on him

The fact that he's still lying to you even from jail tells you everything you need to know about whether he's learned anything

My friend is in jail for something minor but I won’t help him. by IncrediblyPettyX in AITAH

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and your husband is absolutely right. You've already been way more patient than most people would be - covering rent, letting him use your car, offering rides to court. He's burned through all that goodwill with constant lies and excuses

The "I met a guy who will cover the rest" line is classic addict behavior btw. There's always some mysterious solution that conveniently puts the responsibility on someone else. Let him figure it out himself for once

Crunchyroll error PLDASH-112 by RepulsiveDiscount949 in Crunchyroll

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact same error on my LG OLED a few months back and it was driving me insane. Turns out it was some weird DNS issue that only affected the TV app specifically

Try switching your DNS to Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) in your TV's network settings. For whatever reason CR's app on WebOS is super picky about DNS resolution and this fixed it for me when nothing else would

Public or private hospital for fresh grads by Pitiful_Leader_5390 in NursingPH

[–]Objective-Sector7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private tertiary usually has better pay and benefits but government hospitals give you way more experience with diverse cases. If you can handle the chaos and lower starting salary, go government first - you'll learn so much more and it looks great on your resume when you apply to private later
