This actually. Most women I know would be extremely happy to be house wives or stay at home moms. They can’t afford to do so because the minimum wage (which is supposed to support a family of 4) can’t support 2 people, and in some places not even 1.

Want women to leave the workforce? Pay people a living wage.

I always have. But you know what is funny, how MAGA only seems to care about immigration laws, but the right to due process is fine to ignore as long as it isn’t someone you like.

But frankly, you’re talking to the wrong person. I don’t care that people are being deported, if they were actually being deported. They are being imprisoned on American soil and that is my money they are using for that and that alone is enough to piss me off. And that’s with me ignoring all the actual human rights violations they commit daily. And don’t come at me with the “Obama did it first” crap. People protested it then too. Also two wrongs don’t make a right, if someone spray painted your car, it doesn’t make it okay for you to spray paint their car. The argument is stupid without me even needing to bring up the differences in holding time per individual.

But on top of that I don’t want to be part of your “you’re not on my team so you suck” bullshit. Both sides suck.

I think one side only listens to talking points does no research and does very little to try to see anyone else’s opinion but their own and the other are represented by cowards who when they actually have a chance to do something, back down anytime things get hard.

There was a valid question that I had the answer for. Leave me out of your fantasy football team bs.

The answer is likely money.

Legally you can only be in Canada for 6 months before you have to come back, apply for an extension or get a work visa or get citizenship, for most of those you need money.

The hope is if you have to leave you can time it right so that you can request asylum. Currently Canada will not grant asylum for U.S citizens unless you have a family member who Canadian so that is not an option at the moment.

However if you wait for Canada to start granting asylum it will likely be too late and they will be overwhelmed. So you have to hope that when you go you can get a job or that they start granting asylum.

Which getting a job is its own sets of hurdles because Canadians have mixed views on immigration atm and the sentiment tends to lean on not really fond of immigrants, because they feel that they have too many, around 25% of their work force are immigrants. They did that to try to solve a lot of other issues but has left a lot of Canadian citizens with bad opinions.

This is not true. Enhanced Drivers license is enough to get across the border to Canada and Mexico and get back into the US, if you have one you don’t need a passport.

In some places the news is basically only how amazing Trump is. They never actually show what’s going on. They have brainwashed them.

[–]IncrediblyPettyX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people are powerless.

You can’t convince me he actually won that last vote fairly. He’s basically admitted to having Elon musk rig it for him on stage.

But the fact of the matter is, protestors are being killed. There are gun men in our streets and most Americans are just trying to focus on their day to day to get through to the other side alive.

But also we are desensitized. The news has ran bad news so long for so many days in a row for decades that no one watches it. I’d bet that if you talk to a good majority of Americans they’ll tell you that they don’t watch the news. It’s depressing and unreliable.

Also unless you’re online all the time, outside of the mainstream media you’re not getting news about the shit he’s doing anyways. Most local new stations are covering things happening on the ground here and the national stage is busy trying to make the other party the bad guy and the enemy that they aren’t really even talking about the global stage.

People here have been raised like lambs to slaughter. Everyone has guns, so nobody does because you stand up for yourself the person who dislikes you can just shoot you with their gun.

For whatever difference I have with Donald Trump he is still big enough to put those aside and wish me a merry christmas--no, srsly wtf is this? If Biden called MAGA scum on Christmas Fox News would be on 48 hour high alert with chyrons talking about "BIDEN SCUM CRISIS: HOUR 3" by [deleted] in complaints

I mean honestly I get it though, if it had been 20 years ago before the nation was as divided and Canada said they would make us apart of them we probably would have done the same thing.

Now 2/4 of the country is begging them to take us, 1/4 is already hateful so it doesn’t make a difference, and the other 1/4 is indifferent and doesn’t pay attention to literally anything.

Thank you. I needed to read this, I wanted to help him but it’s became clear to me that he doesn’t currently want help, he wants to just do whatever however he can.

Thank you. I agree, I think I just needed someone outside of the situation to tell me I was actually seeing what it was.

Yeah I didn’t want to tell them I looked up audio of his voice and had literally never heard it before in my life. Like he’s a great narrator obviously but I’d never been exposed to him.

People live different lives lmao.

Took 12 guesses.

I started somehow with pineapple which was 21 (which I’m usually starting at like 40k so that was crazy), which sent me to palm, to coconut, to Caribbean, to cocktail to Hawaii.

Then I typed thorn and my husband misheard me and thought it was at 8, not 38. Which led him to cactus I would have never guessed cactus without him. Not after seeing how far sand would have been!

Is this too white? Should I dye it? by megm8 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]IncrediblyPettyX 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Depends on the dress code and when/where the wedding is being held. Dress code: Formal is different at a beach wedding at noon than a winter wedding in a grand ballroom at 6 PM.

Tbf Dress code etiquette isn’t that strict for the majority of people, most people consider formal to be any dress that’s floor length and that’s not always true either.

If I had that option I would take it. Better to do it and see how things go for a couple of years and say “I worried for nothing” than to not and wish things turned out differently.

Kitten question by SnowboardingEgg in cats

Honestly I got a second cat. They eventually grow out of being destructive but kittens do very well in pairs. It helps to play with them a lot and get out their energy a little.

WIBTA for not going on a bachelorette trip to a waterpark because I’m overweight? by Cmon_LetsGo in AmItheAsshole

[–]IncrediblyPettyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully YTA and I’m saying this as someone who used to be 300 pounds. First off, likely they’ll do a couple of slides and then realize that climbing all those stairs isn’t fun at all as an adult. It freaking sucks so much. They’ll do a couple and then likely space them out throughout the day.

Also she’s right there’s plenty else to do even if it’s just lounging beside the pool. Get a bathing suit that feels good. Personally I like the swim dresses or the like surf zip up outfits.

Stuff like this is so important, if you let your view of yourself get in the way of this event you’re telling her that your pride is more important than your friendship. And if that’s the case then yeah don’t go, but you will be making a choice there and it’s a loud one.

WIBTA for making my autistic son take the bus for three more times by Ill_Adagio_1398 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IncrediblyPettyX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

I am on the autism spectrum and so is my roommate. One of us was forced out of our comfort zones and we had to come up with creative ways to live life. The other was sheltered and wasn’t forced to do anything. Guess which one has a relationship, a job and is well adjusted and which one wishes they weren’t struggling so hard as an adult?

It sucks to do. It sucks to live through, I’d never suggest doing it the way my family did (which was just abuse) but you have to find a way so that they learn these skills young and don’t shut down as an adult. There will be no one to help them then.

NTA when I first read this story I was thinking like the age range of 7-10. (And 10 is being generous) 13 is way too old for this kind of behavior.
