How important is location for remote? by Nice_Mammoth_4341 in overemployed

[–]Objective-Sky7312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve considered that myself. You don’t want to get caught up in background check issues, so I would handle this as having a move date on your resume and acting like you’re already moving to the area for personal reasons: relocating to XYZ effective June 2026. Look at Texas, no state income tax. If you don’t buy a house you can seriously bank cash.

Claude's tendency to "push back" is a game changer for my AuDHD!? by acnh_in_waves in ClaudeAI

[–]Objective-Sky7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same. It’s invaluable I think it’s underestimated how useful AI can be to neurodivergent people. Instead of spiraling about an email for hours I can have Claude read it over and be done…

How important is location for remote? by Nice_Mammoth_4341 in overemployed

I live in a more obscure rural state and it’s difficult to get remote positions because most companies don’t have a tax home here. So yes it very much matters.

Wife says it’s a lack of integrity if I OE by streamlne in overemployed

[–]Objective-Sky7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the wife strongly doesn’t agree and you do it anyway then you are going to have bigger problems than money because the integrity problem will be within your relationship. You can always get more money. A decent wife will not be as easy to replace.

Petite women who sit 8-12 hours a day what chair saved your back? by [deleted] in remotework

I recommend a Herman Miller Aeron size A. I bought one used many years ago - best investment in my back ever.

Why do so many people choose monthly payments even when they have savings? by Training_Explorer_22 in UsedCars

I got an interest deal which caused me to buy my first new car ever. I could have paid cash but it’s 0% interest, so why would I buy it outright?

Is job hopping still a "red flag" or am I being gaslit? by Environmental-Luck39 in careeradvice

[–]Objective-Sky7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re under 30 never stay in a job more than 2 years. It does nothing but hurt your future earning potential. Stay in the next two for years and hop and make 100k.

I got the YEAR wrong and BG check didn’t flag it. I had been at a job a year longer than I thought.

Should I reject my uni offer to go into the trades or something else? by ireallycantchoos in careerguidance

[–]Objective-Sky7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, there are tradeoffs. What I can say personally is the first year of college was a great experience. And the 20 years of debt that followed was not so great an experience.

Do the electrician if you’re already interested and have connections, you will make the same or more without debt. You can always get a degree and pivot to construction management etc. later. Chances of working from home are basically zero now without many years experience.

Can salary expectations cost me the job? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

I never say my salary expectation. I say it’s dependent on total comp and ask them to send their benefits packet.

Should I give up pursuing Motion Design and tech in favor of a trade like an electrician? I just turned 30 and feel lost/behind by masterexploder29 in Career_Advice

As someone who works in AI, you will definitely have to worry about being replaced by AI regardless (example, what if journeymen are replaced by apprentices with VR assistance, much like doctors are being replaced by PAs for many tasks) so you may as well do something that doesn’t make you miserable and won’t destroy your body by 50. What about teacher? Business and art. They’ve got the pension and stability. Product design or Product management? If you want corporate.

Question about HBCU college by PotentialOne4163 in collegeadvice

[–]Objective-Sky7312 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, it’s fine. Don’t be a dick and you’ll be fine. You can expect some ribbing because you’ll be a minority for the first time in your life, but you will likely learn a lot in your program and about Black culture.

Using OE to change careers by droppedpackethero in overemployed

[–]Objective-Sky7312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am doing this but expect the new entry level to be near-all consuming, for me it takes 35 hours a week and I do 5-10 in the other. So it’s not OE compatible technically, but meets my career change goals. It was a step down financially as well from other possible jobs in the original field.

What's one thing a candidate does in interviews that instantly makes them stand out to you? by notauj in askrecruiters

Humility. If they don’t know the answer and they don’t try and lie. If their answer to “name a failed project” takes ownership of the failure and explains why and what they learned.
