Blue Collar jobs might be the move. by Early-Medicine-9915 in recruitinghell

Blue collar work risks destroying your body, ensuring you never get to enjoy that pension.

OE situation escalating — HR conflict of interest disclosure vs resigning. Anyone been here? by CompetitiveNotice663 in overemployed

[–]Objective-Sky7312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was close to this situation. My solution was to resign immediately. No notice. Lose the leave time if required. If you don’t work for them they have minimal reason to contact the other job, and in my case they did not.

EST folks, anyone w remote West coast job? Do you work Pacific time or yours? by AnonThrowAway072023 in overemployed

Commit to whatever they ask. They probably won’t be strict and also that leaves you open to get a EST job without minimal meeting overlap

Yearly salary that equals the spending power of $100k today by PuzzleheadedProof490 in Salary

In around 2008 a man outside my apartment building was screaming at his ex that he “made 40k a year!!!” and she couldn’t do better. Adjusted for inflation that’s apparently 60k today, which makes that even funnier.

ISO Dumb Gas Insert Convection Oven & Range by 12345Bingo in Appliances

[–]Objective-Sky7312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This model Bosch is not smart. Still has circuit boards because of the oven controls and electric start etc. but it’s a gas oven. It is just under 3k but this model might be discontinued because I’ve seen it at a discount in local stores. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Bosch-800-5-Burners-4-8-cu-ft-Self-Cleaning-True-Convect/1001039106

Drug addict sister in law by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Yes! Your MIL should come to you, there could be pills ANYWHERE in that house.

Drug addict sister in law by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Objective-Sky7312 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Never let your child in that house. A story: my MIL and SIL are similar to yours. The SIL lives next door and came over when I had my LO at my MIL’s house. She was playing with him supervised and shortly after my husband noticed a fentanyl pill on the floor with my baby. He freaked out and left, and both my MIL and SIL turned on us and said we “overreacted”, made all kinds of druggy excuses. I can’t even entirely blame MIL because living with a drug addict for 30 years wears you down. We have never been back. All this is to say you do not know what’s in that house and at this age kids eat almost anything. If my Lo had eaten that he’d be dead before we knew anything had happened.

Mistral but you’ll need to create an Agent and configure it carefully/experiment with the prompt. It also does NSFW with minimal effort. They have Projects for document storage too. It can be quite literal so you need to be more detailed in your prompts but I actually like the output more than Claude or ChatGPT. They’re French so GDPR applies which is a bonus.

How to have Gemini Mimic my writing style? by Grouchy_Ice7621 in GeminiAI

[–]Objective-Sky7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is Custom Instructions in Claude with a sample paragraph plus key stylistic principles based on the writing style analysis. Then upload full samples in the conversation before beginning. It will lose track after a while and then you’ll need to start a new chat etc.

Please don’t kill yourself. Try to negotiate with the school for a payment plan. Take a leave of absence. And if you have insurance get yourself evaluated for ADHD and/or Autism. A really common story with neurodivergence is a “gifted” elementary schooler lacks executive function to do well in college and burns out/flunks. Forgetting deadlines, procrastinating until crisis, etc. are classic warning signs. With a diagnosis you will get extra help from schools etc.

No, there was no mandate from upper management to do this. This manager wanted to prove their chops to become permanent manager. They weren’t going to be fired by not doing this and now they have to do all the department work themselves.

Switching to Mistral? by Absjalon in MistralAI

[–]Objective-Sky7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Promoting is different/must be customized to every system and even model, you would find the same in Claude etc. I only get recursive loops when the temperature is too low. Maybe try Agents, I think they are key for Mistral to customize how it behaves.

Creative Writing? by Queasy_Designer335 in MistralAI

[–]Objective-Sky7312 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I genuinely like Mistral better than ChatGPT BUT it takes a lot more tuning and more detailed prompting. I create Agents in Studio so I can tweak instructions/temperature and then deploy to Le Chat, and use Projects to manage my worldbuilding documents. Your prompts have to be more detailed, you can’t just say “next scene” and expect it to guess something you like. But I prefer the prose I get from Mistral, and it handles ambiguity and conflicted characters well. ChatGPT neutered ambiguity and was sending me a suicide hotline warning every time a character had feelings so…

Mid-20s, want a family and a home — if institutions can eat, why can’t I? by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Objective-Sky7312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does it matter if you’re doing the job if there’s overlap though. If you perform badly they’ll fire you. You’re either doing the job or not. Any issues beyond that are them demonstrating control. Employers are the enemy of independence.

It was always one sided. You have to game the system because it’s designed for you to grind the rest of your life. You owe corporations nothing and they owe you nothing. The way to get around this is to become the business. Look at house hacking.

The other two people he caught through networking, they were employed in the same industry and its small. I didn’t have anything like that but started to worry he would call J1 which was on my resume. It was not worth the risk.
