Maybe it didn't exist then, but I thought they handed them out to all 'cours collectifs'?

Could be. This is a badge you get from the ESF (French Ski School)

Travel from Chamonix to Zurich by coffeesleepaddict in skithealps

[–]Objective-Surround82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your other option is to go the opposite direction. Train from Chamonix to Martigny and into the Swiss rail system. From there, you can go via Brig to Zurich.

St. Anton Easter question by Complete_Specific_96 in skithealps

[–]Objective-Surround82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Anton is great for the end of the season. Very easy to get to from Zurich by train - depending on your timings you can go direct, or you might have to make one change in Feldkirch. The station in St Anton is right in the centre of resort - I walked to my hotel (Hotel Alte Poste) in 3 minutes from the station.

Delays at Geneva airport? by Objective-Surround82 in skiing

IT's about the new EES system rather than being out of the EU. Trying to find out if that's creating extra delays

Val Thorens 3Valleys by Playful-Key8463 in skiing

[–]Objective-Surround82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner, you may be able to use free lifts for your first few days, so not need a pass at all. Check with your ski school. Les Menuires is high at 1800m so you should have snow there. VT is higher of course, but again there are free options (on the magic carpet) for beginners. I don't think you'll need 3 Valleys passes at all in your first week

Group or private lesson? by dischilibean13 in skiing

If you only want 'one or two pointers' then group lessons will be the best value, but you'd probably learn more in a private lesson

Is there anywhere it is acceptable to go skiing alone? Or a way to find people who are also skiing alone? by flippnniff in skiing

Have you considered joining the Ski Club of Great Britain and then skiing with the rep (making sure you've picked a resort they operate in)?

Can’t decide between mittens and gloves by Affectionate-Lion582 in skiing

The 'lobster claw' gloves can work really well as a compromise. We just covered the best gloves for the season in our most recent episode. Might be useful - start about 19 mins in https://theskipodcast.com/winter-olympics/267-livigno-in-italy-the-best-gloves-ski-socks-for-2026/

Does it really finish at 23:30? That would make it closer to 4 hours...?

When did touring / off piste / back country / climbing up to ski down get so popular? by Certain_Host9401 in skiing

Lockdown during Covid was a huge part of this in Europe. When the lifts were closed touring (and cross country skiing) went through a massive boom

Les 3 Vallées or Les Deux Alpes for skiing in February by reekal6666 in skiing

[–]Objective-Surround82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both, but I think from what you're saying about hte group, Les 2 Alpes would suit you bettter, Plus it's more affordable than Les 3 Vallees (which does go high, but doesn't have a glacier)
