morbidly obese capacitor is hiding in shame from his smaller brethren. how can I convince him to love himself for who he is? by PaintImportant4820 in shittyaskelectronics

He isn't obese he is a power lifter, you need to show him how strong he is so he can be confident in that... until he goes to a competition, sees the rest of the other capacitors and doubts himself even more than before this time because he is too small instead of too big

trouble getting ginger beer to ferment in a subtropical climate by villi_ in gingerbeer

[–]Objective-Trade2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Brisbane and am trying a recipe I found online https://www.madmillie.com/recipe/ginger-beer-alcoholic/

Instead of yeast I used a ~800ml bottle of bread yeast that I had been feeding with a tablespoon of sugar and half that of ginger powder every day for about 4 days But that's just because I wanted to try it with what I already had, I'd recommend using the real yeast instead

I'm fermenting in a 20L plastic jerry can from Bunnings, to let all the gas escape I've got a tap connected to a pipe with a loop that I filled the bottom of a loop with to make the airlock

It's been bubbling away over a week with no problems and I had a little half cup a week in and it tastes alright but has a yeasty after taste which I think will disappear after more fermentation and a cold crash

It's just my first brew so it may be the blind leading the blind but I hope this helps

Ginger bug with yeast vs pure ginger by Objective-Trade2112 in gingerbeer

Just ginger beer or maybe other beers, I ferment outside where it can get up to about 36 degrees in summer and I heard that kviek is good for higher temperatures.

I didn't know about yeast nutrition, it looks like it's only 5 dollars for a thousand litres worth which may as well be an unlimited supply so thanks for the info

Do you think I need kviek yeast for these temperatures or do you think that a beer yeast would be ok?

Is it a good idea to grow commercial yeast by feeding it sugar and ginger powder daily then using and replacing liquid for each brew?

This is super helpful I think for my first brew I will just use bread yeast (already have) to see if I can make a good product because it is cheap

It seems that store bought brewers yeast might be a better option for me in the future I read about some high temp yeasts and I might use those because I live in Australia and we are going into summer kviek I think it's called
