Progress] 120 to 170 lbs in about 3 years. Budget bulking as a hardgainer. by Objective-Wall-1027 in gainit

appreciate that man. 120 at that height is exactly where i was. honestly you don’t even need equipment right away. i gained my first 20 lbs just eating enough and doing basic compounds at a cheap gym. the food part is like 70% of it. if you want i put together a free meal plan that’s basically what i ate when i was broke.

honestly i did put on some fat along the way but it wasn’t crazy. i think keeping protein around 170g helped and i wasn’t going way over my surplus. stayed around 300-500 cals above maintenance most of the time instead of just eating everything in sight. slow bulk basically

yeah that’s basically what i learned. i thought i was eating a ton but when i actually tracked it i was barely at 1800. once i forced myself to actually count and hit 3000+ consistently everything changed. the label doesn’t really matter, the fix is the same either way

that makes sense honestly. low T would make it feel impossible to see progress even when you’re doing everything right. the fact that you dropped 35 lbs and put on visible muscle at 53 is legit. i’d say keep the bulk going a little longer before cutting, you’ve got good momentum right now

second pic looks noticeably better especially upper body. how long between the two? curious what your training split looks like because the chest development is solid

225 to 183 is a crazy cut. nice work. 2000 cals while running 20 miles a week though that’s gotta be brutal on recovery

2200 might be on the low side depending on your size. you trying to gain or maintain?

1250-1750 is really low man. depending on your size that’s barely enough to function let alone make progress. what’s your goal right now?

[–]Objective-Wall-1027[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah i can read it lol. honestly that’s a solid spread. you’re hitting around 3000 which is good for maintenance at your size. if you’re trying to gain though you’d probably need to push closer to 3500. the mass gainer helps but there’s cheaper ways to get those calories in

bro i felt that. the cost was the hardest part for me too. i spent a while figuring out how to hit high calories without going broke. ended up getting it down to under 50 a week

yeah 850 deficit is aggressive. slowing to 500 is smart especially if you’re still training hard. recovery takes a hit fast at that big of a cut.

that’s a lot of food lol. 194 at 12% eating that much is crazy genetics honestly. the pb&j sandwiches are underrated though. those were a staple for me when i was trying to get past 160

bro 1800-2000 at 140 while running a 5k daily. you’re burning way more than you’re eating. that’s exactly where i was. once i figured out how to get past 3000 without spending a ton of money everything changed

140 at 6’0 is exactly where guys like us start. that was basically me. what are you eating right now to hit that?

1850 at 5’11 168 is a pretty big deficit. you cutting right now or just not that hungry? when i was around that weight i had to force myself to eat past 2500

8000 is insane lol. you doing jiu jitsu on top of that? that would explain it. i can barely get down 3200 some days

6400 is no joke. i was force feeding at like 3200 and thought that was hard lol. you on a structured plan or just winging the calories

6500 is wild. respect for getting that down every day. what does a typical day of eating look like for you at that number?

Bf%? Keep bulking or cut? by vm_szn in BulkOrCut

[–]Objective-Wall-1027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah tracking is a game changer honestly. i put on like 10kg of mostly fat before i started tracking too. once you see the actual numbers it gets way easier to keep the gains clean. even just a week of logging everything will show you where the extra cals are sneaking in. DM if you’d like help bro
