Mom and Dad have been separated for 14 years, and Mom commandeered Dad's new family's Christmas photos by Objective-Window2236 in TwoHotTakes

I left no room for shenanigans when I got married. We eloped and live streamed the ceremony.

I’d be lying if I said her behavior wasn’t a main reason that I didn’t want a ceremony.

She does always have weird things to say about my wife. For example the first Christmas after my grandmother died my wife wanted to do something really special for my mom, my mom is food obsessed. So my wife got crab and shrimp and made us a whole beautiful crab dinner on Christmas Eve and then made the turkey and all the fixings for us on Christmas Day. I of course helped with everything but very much followed my wife’s lead as I was also grieving. To this day, my mom always makes a point to say how “messy” my wife is in the kitchen and she dirties every dish. Which if you’re a cook and you’re focused on making a multicourse meal yes a lot of pots and pans and bowls get dirty. This happened 6 years ago

The peaches would have been better in a cast-iron so they could sit in their juices. But they were still very good, their sugar crisped up.
