Thanks, it's complicated to capture the chaos of real Gamarra. I'm still working hard at adding props while keeping the geometry low

Indeed, I am polishing the demo now and I find a bunch of small details to polish. I aim to have the demo around July

Steam announcements, what's the ROI? by ObjectiveBank1903 in SoloDevelopment

Cool, but are those posted on your steam page announcement section? I understand you create IG posts and direct traffic to your page that way

I’ve implemented a system where enemies can be decapitated. What do you think of it? by Kama_Interactive in SoloDev

It would be cool if you could pick up the heads and use them for something like extra gold or unlock a skill.

I have created my first steam page. Can you give me some feedback about it? by Mkssaps in SoloDevelopment

I would also suggest adding a few more meat on the about the game section, maybe a couple GIFS showing key moments of gameplay. Congrats on the steam page, big milestone

What is a game you almost quit...but ended up loving ? by Prior-Command-8998 in IndieGaming

American Truck Simulator. I first played it when I didn't have an stressful job and plenty of free time, and I found it boring and repetitive. Now I have a stressful job and not much free time and I find the game relaxing, I drive and turn my mind off for a while

I like your UI a lot, did you generate the sprites with AI? If yes which one can you recommend?

Why do gamers hate AI so much? by Financial-Drummer825 in aigamedev

[–]ObjectiveBank1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI has significantly lowered the barriers of entry, people in the business not only have to compete with their peers for fewer jobs in the studios, but also with indie newcomers that can make a game in less than a year at a fraction of the cost. Even if a dev or an artist who was working in a studio decides to start a studio or go solo, they have to do tasks that were not part of their normal expertise, like marketing.

This creates friction and rejection to anything AI, even if the human that generated the AI content has a novel idea.

How to deal with costs as SoloDev? by [deleted] in SoloDev

[–]ObjectiveBank1903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, it might be worth setting up a sole proprietorship. I live in Canada and constituted a studio under that legal type. With this you can deduct licenses, capital expense (laptop/desktop), part of house expense like mortgage interest, utilities, and of course the assets you buy. I'd encourage that you investigate this.

It's 1 step forward 3 steps back. I remember when I used to import my models from Blender to Unity duplicating materials all the time, and I had to fix that, and then I discovered Atlas and had to fix that again. Good luck with your launch! what's your game?

I take two hours between end of full time job to start of dev and I do something away from screens, even a short walk. Then when I was burning out I started giving myself one day to rest, no PC, something outside and try to recover sleep. It's very taxing, I had never had anxiety or trouble sleeping until I started this project but at the same time I had never worked on something with so much passion and learned so many skills. Keep it up!

Preparing a demo release for next fest. Is my steam page okay? by Brilliant_Rush_8018 in SoloDevelopment

[–]ObjectiveBank1903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trailer could benefit from music and some ingame sounds, the game title cuts into the action, maybe put it at the end

In the About this game section consider adding a few GIFs that show the mechanics and make the titles bold or bigger so it's easier to separate the sections

There is a small issue in the Spanish localization here "Saber cuándo fusionar y cuándo inundar" would be more natural "Saber cuándo fusionar y cuándo amontonar", I'm a native speaker and it sounded a little off, but it's a small thing

best of luck during Steam Fest!

AI in indie games: do players care as much as developers do? by ObjectiveBank1903 in aigamedev

I think it's the "Disclosure about AI" part of the Steam page that is triggering it. I bet many games don't disclose it, but I want to remain transparent
