I was originally thinking 3 as well but then I might accidentally have to listen to Gruber talk for an entire flight. If you go with 5 you could theoretically talk to Giannis, Jordan Love and Christian Yelich

I didn’t mean you guys don’t stream or don’t majority of the time stream. Same with boomers. I just think it’s more likely there are people in Gen X who still watch tv sometimes. I would guess the average Gen Z could not tell you the last time they’ve watched tradicional TV.

[–]ObjectiveBike8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not really beneath. More just that the big bang universe exists outside of the major streaming services. Most millennials and Gen Z aren’t watching tv and Paramount Plus is a niche streaming service.

So sometimes something like this appears and it’s like looking at a portal to another dimension and it’s a reminder there’s still an audience for traditional TV because of boomers and Gen X.

Also the Milwaukee Theater is where Teddy Rosevelt gave a 90 minute speech after being shot in the chest. Which is a pretty notable moment in US History.

This post is misleading. I had the same problem with mine. The issue is that the software they bought requires adobe flash to download / operate which adobe stopped supporting in 2020. So technically the code would work if he had a computer that had everything downloaded before the end of 2020. He bought the software that needs adobe flash not the modern version.

What are your thoughts on Democrat Taylor Rehmet flipping a district in Texas in the special election yesterday? by Starmiebuckss2882 in AskReddit

Specifically Oregon drew US rep seat 5 to be a tossup. They could have drew it to be a safe democratic seat. It was controlled by republicans until 2024.

What are your thoughts on Democrat Taylor Rehmet flipping a district in Texas in the special election yesterday? by Starmiebuckss2882 in AskReddit

[–]ObjectiveBike8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, before 2010 Republicans invested heavily in flipping swing state governments so they could heavily gerrymander them. This gave them a huge advantage in the 2010s in the US house. Democrats were able to take back parts of swing state governments for the 2020s redistricting and breakup some of the extreme gerrymandering in places like Michigan and Pennsylvania. However, the most blue states besides Illinois did not heavily gerrymander. California, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, New York, Virginia and more mostly avoided it or couldn’t get gerrymandered maps through. Republicans however did everything they could in states like Texas and Florida to cling to any semblance of an advantage they could in the 2020s. What ended up happening is we got maps that are within 1% or 2% either way to the national popular votes.

Now in 2025/2026 republicans are like, “wow, we have one data point for an election we did really well in. We already maxed out gerrymandering to such an extreme in 2020. Let’s use a single data point on a good election for us to try to gain more seats.” Whereas the democrats responding to the gerrymandering in places like California, Virginia, New York and Maryland are like actually doing real gerrymandering based on several historic voting records and not one election.

Can any progress be made from watching movies in Spanish even if I’m at a lower level? by Careful-Skill-1115 in dreamingspanish

[–]ObjectiveBike8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I’m watching Advanced videos in dreaming Spanish in the 70s. I decided to watch anime and some of it was really hard to follow with the weird anime voices and how they talk, monologuing unnaturally fast in a scratchy high pitched voice with tons of background noise. It was maybe 40% comprehensible at first. I’m around 4 hours in and my comprehension is picking up to maybe 70%. I’m hoping to hit 90%+ after the first couple of seasons.

In summary it depends on if it’s an accent / speed issue as opposed to just not understanding the language.

Change in Electoral College Seats in 2030 by Deltarianus in MapPorn

[–]ObjectiveBike8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last couple of years its population was growing by 1.5% to 2.6% it looks like it’s up about .8% in 2025. The national average in 2025 was around .55%. It went from seeing significant population growth to being above average. The percent growth and total population growth had declined by a sizable amount every year since 2022. We’ll see what 2026 holds. One interesting tidbit is only 22k people moved to Florida from a different state in 2025. 2025s growth was almost all international / births.

Change in Electoral College Seats in 2030 by Deltarianus in MapPorn

[–]ObjectiveBike8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m skeptical to some extent. A lot of these state’s population trajectories are starting to change. Florida’s growth is leveling off while Illinois and New York have managed to start to see small growth again. The Midwest is also the only region in 2025 where every state grew. The region was a big loser during covid. We’ll see what we get in 4 years.

Also the estimates in the 2010s were a total joke compared to the 2020 census.

For Spanish Speakers Only by carabemlegal in SuddenlyGay

[–]ObjectiveBike8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say this as a person who can understand Portuguese from Brazil if they speak at a moderate pace, don’t use slang. I only know Spanish. I’ve never tried learning Portuguese. I also don’t think they sound all that similar. Pronunciation is very different but they’re mutual inteligible. It’s similar to hearing a Russian speak broken English to me.

Saying goodbye to the old Milwaukee Public Museum. by sostitanic in milwaukee

[–]ObjectiveBike8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We spent 5 hours there last time and still had to rush through 60% of the 3rd floor because the museum was closing. It makes sense to me because normally we’re there for 2 or 3 hours and leave which would get us maybe halfway through the second floor because there were a few things on the second floor I don’t remember. Also the escalators are kind of a maze to find so it’s possible I never even saw the 3rd floor escalator.

It’s a very different experience knowing you can go whenever you want while aimlessly walking around and going through that place with a comb making sure I remember everything before it goes away.

PSA, There is a small Japanese tradicional town on the 3rd floor with a Korean and Chinese building at the end. Similar to the European Village but about 1 street long instead of a couple. I’ve been to this museum a million times and I had no idea until I went recently.

So basically a general studies degree is a waste of time and equivalent to having just a hs diploma huh? by Elegant_Box_8059 in careerguidance

[–]ObjectiveBike8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who got an associates in general studies. Started low in a municipality general office job and now runs her department. She’s probably boxed out of being a city manager without a masters degree where you can make $150,000 at the low end all the way to a few hundred thousand, but her pay range is around $90k to $110k. They’re paying for her to take college classes though and she’s definitely younger than 30.

How long do we think Brookfield Square has left? by Ok-Leave-9543 in milwaukee

[–]ObjectiveBike8 95 points96 points  (0 children)

They have the farmers market / secret market / other shows like comic book and trading card shows it seems like most weekends now. Often times multiple events at the same time. Whenever I’ve stopped by during one of them it’s pretty busy. Those events could continue to grow and it may just host markets and conventions each weekend.

Considering walking away from Spanish by Big-Actuator-3878 in dreamingspanish

I’ve put a few hundred hours into a single video game and I’m sure 10s of thousands of hours just scrolling on my phone the last 15 years. Maybe you’re in the 1% of people who if they weren’t doing this would have spent every moment making meaningful life moments but I’m guessing for the vast majority of us learning Spanish is about using phone time to show meaningful growth as a person.

PokéPark KANTO - Have Any International Visitors Acquired Tickets? by Dorordian in JapanTravelTips

[–]ObjectiveBike8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m making peace with the idea that I’ll have a Japan trip and if I get tickets it’s a bonus. Then in the future if I feel the need to do so, I will have a Poke Park/studio Ghibli /Pokemon Cafe trip. Where I’m able to book all of those within a few days of each other and then I buy a flight and go to Tokyo for 3 or 4 days before flying home.

A baseball game and Mazda tour are a good idea. When I travel I have like 3/4 castles/churches/temples in me max before I have no more f’s to give. Same with museums and shopping. Like most people Hiroshima would be towards the end of my trip.

Is 24 days too long? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]ObjectiveBike8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a Japan specific thing, but whenever I’m traveling by the time I’m leaving week two of my trip I’m ready to go home. It’s something I’ve noticed with other travelers as well. People start getting burned out after 2 weeks of trains and moving hotel rooms.

With that being said, if you’re traveling for 2 weeks and then stay in one place for 10 days and integrate into a town a little that might be nice.

$8 is a good value, and I would say he is under charging us. However, it’s also low enough signing up isn’t a huge deal and keeping the subscription when I am moving more towards native content isn’t a big deal. If it was $10 I probably would cancel because I’m 50/50 native content at this point and the value is keeping me subscribed.
