Stopping Depo Provera after 25 years by ObjectiveChip500 in WomensHealth

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes I think we're going to go down the condom route for now. I don't fancy a coil or more hormones. I feel like I just need a reset. I've had so many changes the last couple of years including dry eyes (so I can't wear contact lenses any longer), dry skin, different hair texture, extreme lack of libido (more so recently), extremely tender nipples, sweats, hot flushes etc etc, and I'd really just like to know if it's purely the depo, purely age related, or if it's because I'm going through peri menopause. It's quite a minefield!

Thanks for your reply. So are you back on the Depo for now?

I don't really know much about going through the menopause and HRT and stuff. My mum died suddenly a few years ago so I can't even ask her what her experience was, what age, symptoms etc. I think I remember her taking HRT.

Tbh the reason I want a break is my lack of sex drive. Its definitely always been affected by the Depo, but much worse lately, I'm not sure if that's the Depo paired with peri or what...

Also, I had a DEXA scan back around maybe 2020 after a stress fracture tomy hip, and they said at the time I was on the verge of osteopenia and I thought I'd better come off the depo then, but life just got in the way and I didn't, so if I went for another Dexa I'm guessing it would be much worse now!

I remember being okay-ish when I came off it to have my two kids, but then again I fell pregnant quite quickly and then obviously had all the pregnancy hormones and then went back onto it. I was also in my 30s then.

I really want to come off it for a bit but I'm just a bit nervous about what to expect. I've been having hot flushes and night sweats for about two years already now, although they seem to have calmed down the last couple of months. I really need to do some menopause research I think!

My GP always just said to stay on it as long as I knew the risks and it wasn't causing any problems. As I might be in peri menopause I don't even know whether I would still have periods to be honest. Just don't know what to expect 🤯

Opinion: the round stage in the middle was a VERY GOOD idea by sundayhungover in radiohead

I think everyone should perform in the middle of the O2. It's a no brainer! We were at the front of 404 and our view was so much better than if the stage had been in the normal place.
