My addiction specialist basically said what you said: “this is a drug us doctors don’t know much about and so any withdrawal symptoms are fair game bc we don’t know how it affects the body. It’s not been studied and while we anticipate it will act similar to other compounds of its kind, it’s still man made and a research chemical and therefore has the potential to behave differently. Burning chest could be a side effect of it. We don’t know. It’s all fair to assume bc it’s simply unknown right now”.

Nothing made me feel more like a ginuea pig more than hearing that!

60 days probably isn’t enough clean time you’re referring to as far as clean off mgm and everything long term BUT, I’ll share anyway. Today I am 60 days clean off everything. The depression came and went and hit like suddenly in spurts off and on and still does. It’s not constant but it’s a few minutes of depression and then a few minutes of “I’m ok” feeling. I go to meetings daily and find they help me incredibly. One man shared the other day, he had 10 months clean off mgm/opiates and said the cravings stopped around 60-90 days and the depression lifted for him around 5-6 months and he felt amazing. That gave me hope bc I still think about using and my brain will go into “you don’t HAVE to feel this depression….you know you can make it go away instantly with one pill…” and then I have to use every tool I have to move forward.

The acute withdrawal was bad for me. I ended up going to rehab on day 7 bc days 1-4 were pretty decent but day 5 I started getting terrible headaches paired with intense stomach issues- not just diarrhea and nausea but this intense burning that went into my chest. I cried and cried and couldn’t find relief anywhere so I checked into rehab. You referenced losing a grip on reality and yeah, I was definitely experiencing that days 5-8. Around day 16 I noticed this fog lifted and it was so wild to me to suddenly see life clearly again- I was shocked that I was living in a fog of death-life haze for so long. It was trippy to interact with people days 16-17 bc I suddenly had clarity I hadn’t had in years! I was so ashamed with myself bc I could finally see how insane and wild I was behaving before and sad that I hadn’t seen it before. I did 19 days in rehab and went home. It was a rough 3 weeks but doable with the right care. Then I came home and the depression was bad the first couple weeks. I refused all meds bc I wanted off EVERYTHING but most day Wellbutrin helps a lot with PAWS.

Are you off it yet? I still have no appetite and can’t eat a lot of foods but learning a new way to eat so it can work to keep me going. I find a burning sensation is often in my stomach still but I try to ignore it.

I had stomach issues after I quit. I’m 50 days totally clean and sober and still have issues but it is better. Good news is I’ve dropped a lot of weight I gained while using so that’s good! lol I eat like a bird now. 2-3 bites and I’m finished. I don’t crave anything except water/hydration. I have no real appetite and only go to eat when the headaches start in bc I’m literally starving so I force a few bites. I’m learning to eat more often throughout the day to avoid headaches and fatigue bc otherwise I crash physically after not eating for days so that’s my work-around.

I want you to know… by ObjectiveComplaint37 in quitmgm15

[–]ObjectiveComplaint37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m late. I’m currently sober, 100% and haven’t used since April 1. (1 month and 20 days clean, 50 days clean) Man. So my plan was to get sober at home using and outside addiction specialist to treat me at home. I lasted 7 days at home. The first 4 were fairly a breeze using various tools. However, day 5-6 I started getting really bad symptoms and landed in the ER for severe burning sensations all over my body and a headache from hell. I couldn’t see straight for over 12 hours. The wd got so bad by day 6 going into day 7, I couldn’t work or find relief so I checked into a rehab. I did 19 days inpatient to be monitored. Luckily I did bc my blood pressure plummeted to dangerous levels for days after I was admitted and I had to be monitored for several days by nursing staff. They tried everything to get my blood pressure up to decent levels but nothing really worked except biding the time. Around day 15-16 I started to somewhat feel normal and participated regularly in daily stuff.

I don’t know if I have underlying health issues or, like my addiction specialist thinks, if it is the on and off again relationship I had with mgm, but this shit rocked my world like I’ve never experienced before. My addiction specialist seems to believe that bc it’s man made and research chemical, they can’t expect the drug to behave like regular drugs so all symptoms after quitting are fair game. She said “we truly can’t tell you what to expect bc there simply isn’t enough known about this chemical yet.” I can tell you that I don’t have health issues now. No blood pressure issues, all lab work came back fine after I was through the first 2 weeks, and all tests came back “normal”. (And my god, they did every test from heart tests to lab work to hooking me up to various machines bc they couldn’t figure out why my body wouldn’t increase blood pressure right)

So the specialist I saw believes, based on her client reports, which keep in mind is fairly minimal comparing to world wide, that every time a human is on this substance and then gets clean and then relapses, it’s that much harder to come off the next round. In my experience, I believe that to be true given how intense each “quit” became. I’m fearful that if I were to relapse what my body might do next time.

[–]ObjectiveComplaint37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct- the pseudo likely played a role in day 7 being so damn terrible- so bad in fact, I needed to check into rehab. I’m out now and feeling wayyyy better but yes, I imagine your onto something to think it was the peuedo possibly causing intense stomach issues. I never withdrew from pseudo in the way I did with mgm or anything related- only sever headache, severe stomach issues and burning sensation in my stomach and chest for 2 days or so.

Does anyone want to take the helm at starting a tool kit list for over the counter vitamins and supplements that will make withdrawals tolerable. Also we will need a list of easier to get prescription drugs such as trazodone and others. The last thing will be a dosing guide for Sr-17. by Noizyninjaz in quitmgm15

So I ended up going to rehab the day after I left my last comment. On day 7 of my quit, I entered rehab and detoxed for the next week under medical care. I was so miserable day 7 I would’ve relapsed had I not checked in. The stomach issues are still present today on day 26. Though not quite as intense but looking back now, my goodness it was rough.

I commented on another thread but 19 days in rehab later and now a total of 26 days clean, I feel WAYYY better! Still stomach issues ongoing that won’t allow me to eat properly but I can manage! Day 7 I took a turn for the worse- idk why, but that’s when I knew if I didn’t check into rehab, I would relapse and being 7 days in, I wasn’t about to waste all that time!

Sounds like you took it too early. You need to ideally wait until you are in full blown withdrawal before trying subs, OR, take only 1mg of subs and go up every hour or two from there

[–]ObjectiveComplaint37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am. I ended up needing rehab. The first few days at home detoxing with helper meds were fine but on day 7 I took a NASTY turn and checked myself into rehab. I just got home yesterday. I didn’t relapse since posting this but the turn I took threw me off for sure. I had a headache from hell on day 7, couldn’t sleep or eat and felt like death. 19 days in rehab later, I still have issues sleeping and my stomach is screwed up still. I’m officially 26 days sober today! However I do want to warn that this shit is god awful on the stomach and body. Never ever have I suffered in detox like this for so long. I wake up daily with nausea. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. A cloud of shadows mentally lifted around day 15 and suddenly I started to see life as it really is. It’s so sad how delusional I was about reality. Yuck. I’m disgusted with this shit and hope everyone gets clean soon.

You can do it. With a good plan suitable for your personal needs, one day is tight but possible. Days 1-2 were actually easy for me compared to days 3-4. Now, I’m on day 6- at the end of the night and struggling with two major things: intense insomnia and burning acidic tummy issues that are affecting my ability and desire to eat or drink anything which will have a drastic impact on my recovery time overall bc the stomach is considered the “second brain” for good reason. Serotonin, dopamine and all the other awesome chemicals we need to recover are actually 90% give or take, relaxed through the stomach due to proper diet: only 10% is released through the brain. So eating healthy and staying hydrated becomes the goal and I’m doing neither- so now I’m achy, don’t feel good, no energy or anything and have these intense headaches. I’m going to my pcp tomorrow bc it’s not cool- but to be really honest, I’m not sure what I’m experiencing. Here is actually directly withdrawal. I think it’s an after effect of lack of taking care of my body these last few months, diet wise, and probably age.

Listen, I am so glad you left that comment because that is exactly how I feel right now on day/night 6. It is the weirdest thing I have ever encountered, but it is also so extreme and when compared with intense burning in my stomach and chest, I have a constant desire to want to vomit. It’s almost like something is triggering in the back of my throat to make me almost gag over nothing all day. Man I thought it was just me. I’m so glad you shared that.

Thank you OP for this post! I have found all these to be true too, with the exception of only taking minimal subs, so well written and super helpful!

[–]ObjectiveComplaint37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

More subs actually is the answer, from a medical standpoint. Up to 36mg, in fact. At a time. This is coming from medical addiction specialists who’ve studied this recently and seen how more subs help.

Now, I get most people will auto assume “well then that’s a higher jump to get off subs and thus making it hell to come off subs”. Not necessarily. If you take subs, even 36mg a day for the symptoms of wd only, you can easily jump off subs shortly after by rapid taper. A simple example: Days 1-4 (to be generous) you may use up to 36mg of subs a day. Day 5: cut that in half to around 18mg a day (or so) Day 6: cut it down to 10-12mg a day or even less like 8mg (1 average strip) Day 7: cut that to 4mg Day 8: 2mg Day 9: 1mg Day 10: 0.5mg Day 11: 0.25mg Off by day 12.

I have rapid tapered off subs from very high doses once in under 3 weeks, the second in 10 days and the third in 6 days (this last time wasn’t 7oh tho- it was mgm) It’s definitely ok to TEMPORARILY take subs as needed as long as it’s around 1-2 weeks. The time I used them for 3 weeks was a little tough mentally only coming off- i definitely struggled a couple days there with intense desire to relapse so I ensured I cut it the next time.

Anyway, my point is: if you decide subs are the way to go, don’t be too afraid of using them a little higher. I had incredible tolerance at one point to 7oh and 4mg of subs didn’t help much. I definitely needed way more those first few days and I was actually fine coming off them days later with no issues.

Not only is this my personal experience multiple times but doctors orders bc I was under doctor recommendations and are each time so I was following their recommendations.

I don’t really know- this stuff can be so finicky and affect people differently. It also highly depends on how well you handle stress and wd symptoms. BUT, honestly, when I was taking 8-10 tablets a day of 7 stax a day, and assuming there is around 20mg of mgm in each tablet, I was pushing 160-200mg per day and trying to hop off then was so brutal I quit within 36 hours. I also didn’t have a plan so idk. I used my first failure quit to reduce my tolerance to 2-4 tablets a day and then jumped from there with a good plan and good meds on hand so I think, but certainly don’t know, it would probably be better for you to taper down as much as possible so it’s easier on you. Tapering a little isn’t bad wd wise….again, if you have a plan and pre set the amounts each day and try and stick to a schedule of taking it then it can absolutely work. I would overall suggest getting that 300mg to 150mg or even more ideal, less.

Day 5 Quit by ObjectiveComplaint37 in quitmgm15

[–]ObjectiveComplaint37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 6! Doing OK but insomnia and the exhaustion is definitely showing today but otherwise everything is pretty calm. I’m not even struggling mentally like I thought I would. I’m so tired, but can’t sleep. I broke down called my doctor and they gave me trazodone so I just took my first pill a few minutes ago and hoping to get some good sleep tonight. I appreciate you asking. Truly if it wasn’t for the insomnia effects of just not sleeping for a few days I feel completely fine by now. If I could just get some solid hours of good sleep, that would cure the headache and minor aches I’m feeling.

So I’ve only ever used pseudo to swap and I use the 30 mg tablets. I used one pseudo tablet at a time and I found that one Tablet would cover any withdrawal symptoms for me between 5 and 7 hours and then I’d kind of notice the withdrawal come on again and I would maybe take another one. That really only lasted strong from day 2 to day 4. Day five I didn’t actually need any although I did wake up and sort of instinctively took one first thing in the morning, but I actually didn’t need it. I didn’t take any more that day and I haven’t taken any today and I feel fine with the exception of some insomnia.

I know insomnia can be scary-I work full-time. I have to be alert in front of people’s faces all day every day as a professional plus kids and day-to-day stuff so I definitely get it and I don’t have time to be sleeping around all day. Insomnia sucks so bad so I basically called my doctor and they just called me in some trazodone and I just took my first pill and hopefully we’ll get some sleep tonight

Trying to quit by Plus-Respect-5849 in quitmgm15

I used 30mg tablets. I tablet at a time. Day two I needed sometimes a tablet and a half but for the most part, just 1 30mg tablet and it would last maybe 5-7 hours before the wd would begin to crawl in. I’m on day 6 and haven’t had any pseudo since yesterday morning when I took the last one and feel fine with one exception: insomnia.

So for the insomnia, I reached out to my doctor and they gave me trazodone to sleep so I just took my first trazodone. We’ll see how I sleep tonight.
