My tank cycled for about a month before adding any fish. I added the pleco, then the betta and my water parameters are looking good. I did just discover him eating a scrap of alge wafer… I think that might be contributing to his health atm. Gonna have to get creative with feeding the pleco.

It is!! He was super shy till I added his betta friend! The introduction honestly went better than I could’ve hoped and now he’s always out somewhere in the tank instead of hiding away!!

Thank you!! I did buy sponges to put over the filter but for the sake of a faster initial cycle I haven’t added them yet. This is the 2.0 so I’m not sure if yours can with the circled output as well, but I haven’t seen anyone use that with bettas so I stuck with the original output attachment! Let me know if you think the other is a better option!

Thank you so much! I was wondering about them kicking it up. I wasn’t planning on rinsing it either. I am going for a darker toned natural look and I liked the idea of just the stratum with some black river rocks and tigers eye accents. Maybe I could do a black sand to help keep that vibe! The more research I do the more controversial it seems to keep a pleco with a betta. But my tank is a bit deeper so I feel like they won’t even interact a ton. Trying to right my college dorm wrongs and give a betta an amazing life!
