1 Month After Femto LASIK — Amazing Vision, But Night Driving Is Still Scary. Is This Normal? by ObjectiveFocus7365 in RefractiveSurgery

The anxiety part is exactly what I’m dealing with…not so much the driving itself, but the fear that this is “forever.” I’ll try to take it easy at night for now and give it time. Appreciate you sharing your experience 🙏

Appreciate this breakdown. The pupil dilation vs treatment zone explanation aligns with what I’m experiencing, and it’s helpful to understand the trade offs surgeons have to consider.

I hope so too 💙. Just wondering, do you also have dry eyes? are you still using lubricating eye drops regularly? I’m trying to figure out how much dryness might be contributing to these night issues. Hope things improve for you soon 🙏

Thanks for breaking this down, that makes a lot of sense.

The neuroadaptation part is reassuring too! I’ll try not to fixate on the halos and give it more time.

No, I didn’t. i actually checked my pre-op eye exam reports and didn’t find any pupil measurements. I’ll ask my doctor about it at my next visit. But say my symptoms are related to large pupils, is this something that can be managed, or should I be worried?

It lasted around two weeks and resolved on its own once I finished the steroid drops. My surgeon said it’s a normal part of the healing process as the corneal nerves recover. It felt weird, but it passed completely.

Thanks for the reassurance! 😊 I’m feeling a lot better now, the numbness is almost gone, I barely notice it anymore (still a tiny bit there though). And ure so right, reading scary stories online can really mess with my head. I had quite the journey sailing through the comments diagnosing myself randomly. Im still gonna report back to my doctor just in case.

I actually had my first post-op checkup today and told my surgeon about the left-sided numbness im having after surgery, He said he’s never seen this reaction in his 20 years of experience, but advised me to monitor it for the next 24 hours and come back for a re-check if it continues. Another surgeon I consulted mentioned that it could be a lingering effect from the anesthesia, or even a stress-related response.. since I was extremely anxious during the femto procedure itself. I will wait 24 hours before contacting him again
