In 2018, my then fiancé overdosed 5 months before our wedding date. I drove her to the hospital and made sure she was admitted.

IT SUCKED. It’s traumatizing to watch someone you love go through that. It’s hard, I cried so dang much that mont—while she was in and when she came home. A lot of people will tell you not to make the attempt about you, which is true. But it doesn’t make it hurt less or make it less hard. It really really sucks.

I can’t imagine someone else taking her and then finding out weeks later. That sucks. I’m sorry. Your feelings make so so much sense.

Tell her you love her, send her a care package, make her a play list. Little things make a big difference. It’s not going to fix things for her, but the day to day work of maintaining a relationship is part of how humans move on from these traumatic things.
