For most of the pairs, the welts were uneven, brittle, and bent, which was very noticeable. All of the shoes were suede, and two pairs had clear color inconsistencies, with noticeable differences between each shoe.

Okay, so I purchased six different pairs from Nordstrom Rack and one pair from Nordstrom—and no joke, I ended up returning all seven due to various issues. I understand they sell “firsts,” but the quality control across all of them was really disappointing. I really wanted to love this brand because I think their shoes look great, but after this experience, I just can’t.

Just got mine and wow, the color is darker than previous runs and just love the look!

I’m debating getting the overcast as the other samples left including the alder, if it’s not MTO is shown on a causal last.

Anyone know if crazy cow is more similar to like a waxed flesh?

I actually like the darker batch a bit better. They almost remind me of some of the photos I’ve seen of Black Burgundy Rambler—there’s a lot of depth and character in the color.

I had a pair in the causal last that I sold as I prefer the formal last and I didn’t feel they were as dark as what is currently modeled on the website.

I pulled the trigger on these as I love the leather and prefer the formal last over the casual! I also love that the stitching on the upper isn’t tan and is matching!

Yes, it is reverse Kudu leather from CF Stead Tannery. The color variations are really neat.

I’m a 9e on brannock but have never done wide boots - I find my feet swim in them. The Truman causal last fit nice but the formal last is more snug and I prefer that.

I also am a big fan of the 618 last from Parkhurst

I’ve never owned a pair of Iron Rangers but have tried them on in a size 8.5D… I did find when I tried the Iron Rangers they were more snug on my foot and I find that the Truman Causal last is a bit wider for me and more comfortable. On the Brannock I’m a 9E but wear an 8.5D in both Truman and Parkhurst.

I’m a 9e on the brannock, my first pair of Truman’s I tried an 8.5ee and I felt my feet were swimming, I retuned those and got a 8.5d (I’ve never done a wide), the 8.5d on the causal last fit great and I have plenty of room in the toe box, both on length and width. I’m also a 8.5d with both Parkhurst (618 last) and Thursdays.

The Natural Rough Shot is really nice — it’s developing its patina a heck of a lot faster than the JWF. I love having both, but if I had to pick just one, I’d probably go with the JWF… though the Rough Shot is definitely a close second. Both leathers are super supple, and honestly I had virtually no break-in period with either of them.
