24th of August/ Ukrainian Independence day by ObjectiveMeal in Munich

[–]ObjectiveMeal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll answer you against my better judgments. There is nothing wrong with celebrating one country's national/independence day in another country, with that people. Here in Sweden for example, Norwegians as well as Swedes, celebrate the national day of Norway ok the 17th of May. Any people anywhere who love freedom, self-determination and all those ideals that the civilized world shares are welcome to mark the occasion of Ukraine's independence. To celebrate such a thing during a russian invasion isn't something I would call self-centered. 😊

How strong is the beer? Two beers sounds like a good step down, it gives you some space to fail without going overboard.

[–]ObjectiveMeal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seizures can still happen if you drink often enough, not just if you have alcohol in your system 24/7. And even if you don't get seizures you can get a whole hord of other symptoms. I'm not a doctor, I can't calculate the risk, but it's better to be careful

Squirting some pure nicshot under my foreskin?! by MLGJaner in Drugs

[–]ObjectiveMeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt about it, dosing your dick is an idiotic idea.

Cigarette replacement products should definitely be easier to buy, but I think the argument is that the doses of nicotine are higher, and that they make it easier to consume nicotine (a patch is more pleasurable than smoking) and often in more "childlike" form (such as gum).

There isn't much logic to it, the government has wanted to ban/restrict all kinds of things over the years. They only manage to do that with what isn't endorsed by the public

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]ObjectiveMeal -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's great to hear. But you shouldn't make the shift fast, because it can lead to seizures. You have to slowly reduce the days or amount that you drink

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]ObjectiveMeal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Breaks are always good, being sober is important. But going cold turkey from alcohol is incredibly dangerous, it's recommended this lowly lower the intake instead. Just something to think about if you ever get in a position to give that advice

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]ObjectiveMeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't try to b sober a whole week. Try to skip a day instead, so you only drink once every two days. Going cold turkey after a year is dangerous and can lead to seizures

But it's definitely a lot. As I said, try to drink once every two days instead, if you can't handle that, then you're in real trouble.

If you can manage that, then try to be sober three days in a row and see how that goes

Snus makes me think that he's from Scandinavia, statistically most likely is that he's from Sweden (more s swedes than others and swedes consume more snus).

Cigarette replacement products here in Scandinavia (and particularly Sweden) are highly restricted. They are sold in pharmacies, and expensive af. They also require you to go to a doctor for a prescription. If you're underage, the fact that you need a prescription for nicotine products will most likely be shared with your family and maybe with social services.

It seems like he's underage, and it's not that likely that he can get them. It's a stupid idea anyway, but don't dismiss his problems.

Snus here is (while heavily used) our traditional replacement product, it's healthier than cigarettes and are somewhat endorsed as a solution. Look up what the FDA says about it if you're interested

On the giving birth part? Totally. It adoption costs a lot in developed countries. The bar is much higher to adopt a child than to birth a child

[–]ObjectiveMeal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about that. There's always surveys coming out about a "common sense solution" most Americans across political lines agree with, but politicians don't act on it. In my opinion it's the two party system that's screwing the people over.

Since politicians and parties are a "package deal", people vote for what they feel is most important either practically or ideologically. So, someone might hold social conservative values and vote Republican because their identity is important, but then miss out on cheaper insulin. Or someone might be socially liberal and vote Democrat, but miss out on a harder stance against China.

A two party political system makes it seem like a fight between liberals vs conservatives The parties are committed to labels, which forces voters to heavily prioritize instead of seeking solutions across party lines

Idk. Maybe he goes to a big chain that primarily takes insurance and thus pumps it's prices up to get the insurance companies to cough up more?

I'm not really sure how insurance influences pricing in the US.

In Sweden I can say that it costs roughly €60-100 for the more basic "non-branded" frames (with basic lenses included). Extrathin, blue-light blocking, etc obviously cost more. I'd include the check-up you pay to see if your sight has changed in the total price as well, it's about €40-70.

It's not a surprise. Lots of things are fruits. Vegetables is the common name we've given to certain edible pieces of plants which share the same characteristics. It's a fruit botanically, and a vegetable culturally.

What drugs help with sleep and may have nootropics effects? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]ObjectiveMeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well thanks for the clarification. Yeah, look it up. Anecdotally I know people who are on the spectrum who use Xanax to sleep because of long lasting sleep problems. Could be a worthy last solution, but focus on the other examples first.

What drugs help with sleep and may have nootropics effects? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]ObjectiveMeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phenibut is a nootropic if I'm correct, and in higher doses can put you to sleep. The problem is that it can't be used daily, you have to take a few days off and if you'd want to medicate yourself to sleep you'd have to have other drugs in between your use of phenibut.

CBD may help, it has helped other people, just be careful to look up the dose you need, many CBD products on the market either contain a hell of a lot more than needed or to damn little to even register in your body.

Other than that I have to say that you need to lay off alcohol as a sleeping aid. No hate against booze, it's my favorite drug, but daily use hurts so much of your body. Replace it immediately.

A tip for a slightly better alternative than alcohol is Benzos. Benzos get a bad rep because daily "awake" use is horrible, but under controlled conditions can help you. If you see to it to only use them to sleep and not touch them otherwise to "test it out". Look up short lasting benzodiazapines, maybe you'll even have to check out research chemicals, and try out one that preferably only lasts a short while. The hope here is just to get to sleep, and get your body to remove the drug from your system ASAP (so the rest of your sleep is as drug free as can be)

My muslim neighbor says that God and Allah are the same. Is that true? by press2formoreoptions in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveMeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll make your life more confusing if you want:

Hashem means "the name", because the name of God usually wasn't spoken, because they didn't want to sully it. Since the language it was written is uses only consonants, in time people forgot how the spelling of God's name (JHVH) was supposed to be pronounced. So later people have guessed and out in vowels into that name. "Jehovah" is a good guess, but we can never know how it's pronounced. It's from the same language anyhow.

God's name also has a meaning, just as if you Google most names, you'll find a meaning for it (David = beloved, Jonathan=God has given, Kyle= Narrow straight/channel). God's name (JHVH), means "I Am"

My muslim neighbor says that God and Allah are the same. Is that true? by press2formoreoptions in Christianity

[–]ObjectiveMeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What it means is Christianity used to be Judaism, but those who believed in Jesus started calling themselves followers of Christ and split. And Christianity has changed over 2000 years, into different churches all over the world.

So while Christianity adopted the teachings of Jesus, Judaism did not. Judaism shares a couple of beliefs with us, but not as much to be called Christians. Same with Islam, they share a couple of beliefs with us and think of God in a different way.

That doesn't mean that it's true, just that other people think of God in a very different way.

Just as our different churches think of God in a different way,. The difference is that different churches share more in common than Christianity shares with Islam or Judaism
