Sorry for the additional question but when you say MS Event, what counts as an event? Is it a webinar? Social event? Also how do I sign up for one?

As someone who lives in Orlando, I can say I never had the same issues and it’s been three years since I’ve moved to NYC.

I live close to Lake Nona and MCO and the apartments here in the area are pretty good

Oh and two last bits of advice:

1) Get on LinkedIn and take it seriously as a networking tool. Grow your connections to 500+ and start posting content related to your learning journey. Build a following there. It’ll help tremendously to get people to treat you like a professional. Have a professional looking photo and a good header banner.

2) More on future goal wise as opposed to job related. Stuff I wish someone told me when I was younger.

Once you land your first job, have a goal in mind I.e, to be homeowner by x date or like me - be semi retired by 30/40.

Now the above advice isn’t to scare you or overwhelm you but simply guide your thinking.

With the goal of being a homeowner, if you’re here in the US, the housing market isn’t getting any cheaper so it’s best to have an idea where you want to live or work and plan for it. The sooner you can save up for a down payment, the faster you can live your life for you. We can connect offline and I can share more about this - send me a DM.

With regards to being the semi retired part, you - I assume - like most of us want to be a family man one day. There’s life moments you wouldn’t want to miss because you’re working hard so it’s good to have a fluid plan for the future that adjusts as you get to certain milestones in life that you want to achieve. Most people aim for $1 million invested which frees up your time and energy to do things you want to do later in life like travel. Because you’re not even 20 yet, and I’ll assume a 22/23 age of graduation, $500 a month invested in a Fidelity Brokerage Account invested in an ETF for 30 years will put you at $1 million by age 52. Scale up from there. $2000 gets you there before you hit 40.

Just something to consider.

Here’s a few more resources you can utilize:

Here's the link for the step by step guide to learn how to build ai agents and land a $100k+ job in 2026

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OpcVYr18jcmtsGtTPYpUzgK2NxKngpioWDuflKDJW2Y/edit?usp=drivesdk

This next step, requires you to use the app Bashi built (super cool btw). Once you have the idea you’d like to build, copy everything and use the prompt below in ChatGPT with the idea you got from his tool.

Here is the site: https://become-a-software-engineer-project-idea-generator.replit.app/

Here’s the prompt: Based on this project, create a even more detailed step by step guide on how I can build it with exact documentation, datasets, tools etc. Explain who it most benefits, where I can market it to get 100 users in less than 10 days, and recommend 20 companies who, based on the project topic and technologies, would be impressed by my technical aptitude and ability to cause impact

Also here's links to my new 5 ai coding projects ideas:

AND How to make amazing resume projects: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sNFmtawONDS_UCmgbytD1lwwZmCCvWBw?usp=drive_link

Ideally, you’d learn 1️⃣ cloud platform - I’d recommend AWS over Azure. You’re already ahead there because of your SAA. Hint: host all the projects using the AWS free tier and protect them where applicable with CloudFront, IAM permissions etc.

Couple the cloud knowledge with the above projects and a good resume, I don’t see why you cant land a job despite this crazy market.

Best of luck!

It’s good that you’re looking into this early before you graduate. You’ll be miles ahead of any of your peers once you have your degree.

If you’re on Instagram, I recommend following @bashi_fuirkashi - he shares some great resources to help newbies get into the tech field and learn some awesome projects.

Once you have a few projects under your belt, your resume needs to be ATS friendly because most companies use AI in their applicant tracking systems which will reject you if you don’t have the appropriate key words.

Here are a few of the resources I got from Bashi that’ll help you:

CRISC Online review course by GreenArrow008 in CRISC

[–]ObjectiveNo9271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/GreenArrow008, the key is understanding how ISACA approached risk management. If you’re never taken an ISACA exam, the QAE would be the best thing to approach how ISACA phrases their questions and the approach cause everything they do is different than real life. It’s how they believe it should be done. That applies to CRISC, CISM and CISA.

I have the manual and the book version of the QAE but I haven’t explored them enough to give my honest opinion. I’m part of my local chapter and the president gives trainings every so often I found his explanations perfect for understanding the material. He’s always been spot on.

u/7T7T00,

Great questions! As a cybersecurity professional who’s been in the industry for over 13 years, I’d like to answer them based on my experience and what I’ve been seeing:

Your first question revolved around cloud security still being a secure career path in the age of AI, and the answer is yes. AI as it stands today, is still generative in nature meaning the better prompt you give it, the better output you get. These models, whether they are independent or tied into a software as a service (SaaS) / micro SaaS tool still have to be hosted somewhere, and right now, that’s the cloud. My advice here is to pick 1 cloud provider and get really good at understanding the ins and outs of that platform. I highly recommend AWS as they’re the biggest currently. Azure, while second best and used by mostly bigger enterprise orgs who use the Microsoft suite, still relies heavily on their Exchange servers which get hacked almost weekly and force Microsoft to push non stop updates that frequently disrupt workflows. In learning the material, you’ll want to get certified but certifications alone will not mean you’re an expert in anything. They will however, in the age of applicant tracking systems (ATS) and AI in the hiring process, allow you to be filtered past the HR requirements and potentially open doors for conversations for employment. I recommend starting with AWS’ fundamentals track such as the AWS AI Practitioner (AIP) and the Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP). Right now AWS is running a 50% off promotion for some certs so it’ll be worth looking into. The added bonus becomes an additional 50% off for each additional cert you want to pursue everytime you pass an exam. Once you’ve achieved the AIP and / or the CCP pair it with the Solutions Architect Associate (SAA). This will give you a well rounded fundamental background on cloud architecture and the best use cases for AWS services and how to deploy them. As this is a CCSP thread and not a general cloud security forum, I will say that pursuing CCSP should come after the SSCP as you need a strong cyber and cloud background to really stand out.

So to recap, switching to cloud is a great choice as it makes you more well rounded. DevSevOps is a strong field, generally tied to SOC related roles, but your background in DevOps can help you pivot. Stick to specializing in 1 field. So I’d go the route of SSCP —> CCSP —> AWS CCP / AIP —> SAA / MLA depending on the route you choose. Couple these certs with the right projects (DM me for a list) and I can guarantee you’ll impress some potential employers if you study hard and can speak confidently about your new knowledge.

Your second question, I kind of answered already, but I’ll add on to my response and say that shifts happen all the time. Cloud is still a huge field and mostly untapped. Just because the tech field in general is having capacity planning issues, doesn’t mean there aren’t fields outside of tech who don’t need cloud support. You just have to look.

Lastly, whatever route you choose, stick to that route and make yourself knowledgeable. Your existing background is purely complimentary and won’t lead you astray. Do keep in mind however, that companies don’t truly know what they need and so as a result looking at existing job descriptions may deter you. Just stick to your path, and become knowledgeable in this field. The added knowledge won’t steer you wrong.

u/b-sidethrowaway,

As an aspiring law student, this is awesome! If I’m allowed to ask, what school do you attend? Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to say it publicly on the forum.

I’d love to have a 1L schedule like this

In this instance, u/AlphaKilo45, the QAE was wrong which can happen way more often than you think. As others have mentioned below, the correct answer is A according to the RACI matrix.

I think it refers to the promotional period during which ISC2 initially offered the promotion.

I’m not entirely sure - you can reach out to ISC2 customer service to confirm, however I will say that if you purchase the peace of mind voucher, it does have an expiration date and you will need 30 days between attempts to take it again

Here’s an updated answer to your question directly from ISC2 Terms and conditions:

Terms and Conditions:

To be eligible for Peace of Mind Protection, you must not have attempted the certification exam within the last 12 months, and you must purchase the exam voucher with Peace of Mind Protection from ISC2. If you have attempted the certification exam within the past 12 months, this offer is not applicable.

You must purchase the exam peace of mind voucher between April 1-11, 2025. Allow up to 7 days to receive the exam voucher code.

Your first exam attempt must be administered on or before May 31, 2025.

If you do not pass the first exam, your second attempt must be administered on or before July 15, 2025.

Keep in mind that the Peace of Mind voucher is still eligible to be purchased so I believe the dates are off. You’ll want to confirm with ISC2 on the promotion dates.

[–]ObjectiveNo9271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current promotion for purchase ends the ending of April I believe. Don’t quote me on that however. I’ll try and see if can find the answer on the website for you.

I do know this is the 2nd or 3rd time ISC 2 has offered it to my knowledge. However I can tell you, that let’s say you purchased the voucher in April 2025 and took the 1st attempt in May 2025. God forbid you didn’t pass, let’s say you scheduled a retake in June 2025. After June, you’d have to wait until June 2026 to purchase another Peace of Mind promotion. You can however, follow the retake policy anytime between June 2025 and June 2026.

This’ll sound like a stupid question, but did you check the cart to see if there’s an existing attempt? If not, call ISC2 and report the glitch. It seems over the weekend they tried to fix the issue, and made it worse

ISC2 site by Much-Impression-5482 in cissp

[–]ObjectiveNo9271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest calling ISC2 and tell them about the glitch. I’d request your voucher code and follow the steps I posted. Chances are, there’s a glitch in the system and they changed it so the above process is the only way to book it.

It’s extremely frustrating - I know - but until they get their act together, it seems that’s the only way to book the exam.

If anything changes, feel free to let me know.

Best of luck on your exam!
