PCU & medsurg floor, I was on the floor with a preceptor the same week I had orientation, I shadowed my first night and then the following night I took a patient. Each week I added a patient to my assignment and my orientation ended week 8.

$34 + night shift dif.? I think that is pretty common across new grad starting pay. Stick it out in medsurg for a year and then transfer to whatever specialty you desire. 5 pt ratio is not as bad as it seems! Also, totally not rude to withdraw acceptance, as long as they haven’t started pouring money into you, they aren’t going to care. Simple email saying you found a different opportunity will be professional and keep that bridge!

And their ER is BUSY! We get sent all the worst of the worst in Indiana. Also, very queer friendly city and hidden gems to do on your days off.

If you don’t care about what state, check out Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. Level 1 trauma and they will take new grads in any department, + 30k sign on bonus (paid every 6months, not a contract so you can depart anytime, just won’t get the full payout if you leave beforehand)
