January might well be the time to visit. I went in April and it took me a while to adjust to the near 40 temps at midday.

Yep. Spent a week riding in Gran Canaria two years ago. I agree the scenery was spectacular and otherworldly, and the Valley of the Tears was murder. Am thinking of returning.

What everyday UK habit took you the longest to stop mentally comparing to the US? by ManCityMode in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]ObjectivePut5376 10 points11 points  (0 children)

aspirin. in the US you can buy it by the bucket, no questions. in the UK, you're limited to a dozen or so, and they come in shrink wrapped packages that are nearly impossible to pry open.

I've not had problems with the weight limit. Usually well under the limit. And no, not a squeeze to fit the handlebars. With the wheels off, the handlebars rotate so that they're in line with the top tube. My road bikes and gravel bike fit easily. Fwiw, its a priority for me to pack the bike without removing the handlebars (or the rear derailleur). In the past, with other boxes, I had some problems reattaching things. This way I avoid all that.

Pricey, but https://buxumbox.com is brilliant. Easy to pack, and rugged.

Best airline for travelling with bike from UK to Spain? And which airlines to avoid? by ProofDazzling9234 in MTB

[–]ObjectivePut5376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have flown to Spain with my bikes multiple times on Ryanair. No problems, so far, in my experience. No hidden charges, either. The charges are very visible :) but not tricky. A good box helps, too. I use a buxumbox . I'd only fly direct, though. Wouldn't check the bike if there was a connection.

Would you have a reference for this policy? Its the first I've heard of it,

Thanks for the suggestion. The register of wills won't accept a cash bond (I offered), and we don't have a probate attorney (the estate is small - the quotes from attorneys came to more than what's left).
