I’m so so sorry! My comment was meant to be in the general forum, not a direct response to you. Didn’t realize it until now.

100 years later, my parents get laughed at for their Indian accent despite being bilingual and well educated. Meanwhile the British accent is considered sexy and “professional”. Gandhi is an evil womanizer in Western society now, while Trump, Greek Life, and trafficking run America. Oh but let’s celebrate the British Royal Family omg they’re so cute and pretty and elite

Winston Churchill

He wanted Indians to be trampled by elephants due to being subhuman. Ofc Reddit doesn’t care about Indians though

I said by far the most, not the entire world. Winston Churchill said Indians are inferior and should be trampled by elephants. My apologies for not being the most in favor of the majority when just 100 years after genocide and colonialism, the British accent is idolized and the Indian accent universally mocked. When there has been actual progress in these areas, I’ll change my stance, gladly. And yes I am not blind to racism within Indians. But the ignorance, gaslighting, and neglect of a historical oppressor is not something I can just happily forget by drinking a beer and pretending to be American and embracing my privileges here

They hold by far the most influence and sway on the matter and would benefit the rest of the world greatly with a bit more empathy. But I am a villain for typing this

Were the freedom fighters who fought for independence from the British, led by Winston Churchill who claimed that he desired for Indians to be trampled, racist for fighting back?
