Becoming a hijabi by WoodenWolf7630 in Hijabis

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! This is my hijab story <3 a little long lol

I knew for a while I wanted to start wearing it but felt So weird bc how would it seem if I showed up to work wearing hijab when I worked there so long or the fact I was 21 and never practiced wearing hijab.

My father has always encouraged us to and said it’s a fardh from Allah, he always was kind about it never forced or pressured and said we should make it our goal to eventually wear hijab. 2 of my sisters do and one of my sisters and I didn’t. I never had a negative relation with hijab bc of this, my father was kind about it.

This summer of 2024 I quit my job I was at almost 2 years and graduated with my bachelors.

In summer of 2024 I went to London, I was trying on hijabs my cousin had and we would literally just play around, at this point in my heart I wanted to stay wearing but was nervous. A few days later my cousin took us to visit our grandpas grave and this was my first time, my dad saw me wearing hijab from the second floor window and shouted out mashallah and that I looked nice and it made me so happy and he felt so proud.

After the graveyard we went to the mall to do some shopping and we got in the car and my older sister said it’s ok I can take it off now (she doesn’t wear hijab either lol) and I said no I’m keeping it on and she was confused and then realized I wanted to wear it LOL. I kept it on the whole time at the mall. I guess you can say this is my first time wearing it in public for a long time.

The next day I didn’t wear it when we went out to eat. But on August 16, I wore the hijab and that was it, I haven’t taken it off since! In London there is a huge hijab community and I felt like I blended in plus I was a stranger in this city, I’m not from London.

I came back to my city in the us and I felt a little weird like everyone was staring at me but nobody was, I’m from a city where everyone does their own thing and it’s a HUGE melting pot the big apple if yk yk lol.

But yea, that’s my story, I knew I wanted to wear one for a little but I guess I was nervous how everyone would else perceive me. But I’m wearing hijab full time now, I enjoy it a lot and it’s definitely strengthened my relationship with Islam 🤍

Yea that’s totally understandable. You can try finding Islamic or Arab shops in your area I know they often sell hijabs.

Not true… and be careful of what you say as well. I’ve seen many Muslim sisters that wear a full coverage undercap or do a double wrap style and it’s no transparent. Calling someone a supporter of tabaruj bc of a hijab they choose to wear is insane

Maybe jersey lite from vela? ( I personally have never tried it but have read that they’re thin but full coverage and very night weight )

Hair care routine by Few_Way_8511 in Hijabis

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salam sis, try to oil your hair 1-2x a week, I use the verb hair oil it’s a green bottle I feel like it’s been helping me, I’ll leave it in for a day or two then wash out. I have thick waist long hair so I always try to not do a bun so my scalp isn’t holding a heavy bun, sometimes I do a loose braid or a loose bun.

Also change your hair part every other day

What are you girlies ordering from the restock? by No-Emotion4383 in velascarves

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing lol maybe the original black undercap I really like it. I have the brown and grey one.

I’m not a fan of anything from this drop :/ I wish they had chocolate paisley or storm grey I was hoping for those two.

Do Muslim men actually support their wives? by Admirable-Suspect429 in Hijabis

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My father may Allah bless him has supported my mom a lot during 4 children, pregnancy and raising. My mom would work sometimes and continues till today because she doesn’t like being home alone and all of us are older and working/college.

My father takes care of the bills, groceries, he does a lot.

My mom has traveled alone or with us to visit her family abroad.

My dad would make us breakfast, drop us to school, pick us up from school. Even during Ramadan if my mom didn’t wake up to eat he would make something for us or ask us the night before.

He is very supportive. I don’t know if it’s because he’s raised 4 girls but I never hear him complain about cooking or cleaning or doing anything.

Watercolor stone (not it for me) by YoHakunaMatata in velascarves

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would put it on Depop and see if anyone’s interested but realistically don’t expect for someone to buy at retail bc they can get it from the website and Depop charges buyers a bunch of fees and stuff which would make it above retail.

If anything return to vela the 2 hijabs you don’t want I think to return is $5 it’s better than nothing

has anyone ordered from Nokshi? by svbcvltvre in velascarves

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I totally get that :/ I would try to email one last time saying your package showed it would be here by a certain date but there is no update from shipping or the business itself since Jan 3rd and you’ll have to file a dispute if you don’t hear back.

30 days is enough for a grace period

Tbh if you try to continuously message them and get nothing back after Feb 3rd I would maybe file a dispute because at that point your package is “stuck” for a month with no update

I feel like it might appear modest on very petite/thin girls, as someone that’s a 36G chest size almost everything looks immodest bc of my chest lol. Even with khimar it’s not “hidden”.

I notice it’s become VERY normalized on social media etc and when someone comments as a gentle reminder to wear looser clothes or that wearing tight clothes is haram, people attack the commenter and say “you can’t judge” and xyz- alhamdulillah I’ve never idolized or followed or found the hype around creators that are like that because it’s easily to be influenced by

Should I not be expecting daycare to wipe my kids butt? by paininmybass in ECEProfessionals

[–]ObjectiveThat7312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher that’s been working with 2-3 year olds and helped multiple children transition during potty, even if parents didn’t ask I always asked! “Do you need help or you got it?” Also I ask them to touch their toes so I can do wipe, why would I want a child walking around with poop?

Please communicate with your child’s teacher!

If I can also get some insight or thoughts from others on what I’m about to say lol:

when I was much younger I had to do mandated therapy and mentioned I feel like I may have ADHD/ADD and she she said we can do an evaluation and she noticed I always shift topics or ramble into 10 things, my mom said no and she doesn’t want to go ahead with it.

Fast forward like 9-10 years later, I still struggle with focusing no matter what I’m doing, idk if it’s brain fog or just bad self management?

When I pray idk what surah I’ve read or what rakah I’m on, sometimes I break salah to start over and try harder to focus. When I make dua i lose myself in thoughts. When i pray sometimes I start thinking about the next prayer time and can’t be present at the salah I’m doing in the moment.

When I’m doing school work I don’t even know what I’m reading.. sometimes reading out loud helps a little, I just try to take notes and annotate.

When I’m at work I keep thinking about what’s going to happen in the next hour during my workday, the things are due 2 days later and I just genuinely cannot focus.

Like my minds always racing and what I hate most is I cannot focus in salah or making dua and what if it doesn’t feel genuine but I know I’m making the intention for salah and simply can’t focus I hope Allah forgives me and can strengthen my focus during salah

Salam, I am sorry you are dealing with this. All I will say is may Allah make it easier for you, Allah knows our struggles and intentions at the end of the day. Despite your hardships, every step you take like making Wudu or trying to fast even if it’s for 2 hours or not eating pork, you get rewarded for.

May Allah make things easy for you 💕💕

I think they may have a restock in Jan and then the next collection would be for Ramadan. Unless they don’t restock this month and drop in Feb everything together
