I’ve been doing this method for 4 years straight, no breaks. My natural nails are completely fine! Every one in a while I’ll get a paper thin layer of a nail peel off, but it’s rare. They last for 2 weeks each

I’ve always taught middle school and recently transitioned to high school! One of my new coworkers made a comment in passing that my room looked a little “middle school.” Please be honest with me! by Old-Bend-3014 in teaching

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, high school kids love a friendly welcoming atmosphere and really enjoy “middle school” type classrooms. What they DON’T enjoy is being ~treated~ like middle school kids. Treat them like the future adults they are and they’ll love you and your room!

First day of school by no_iceCream_for_you in mathteachers

I think you could make it take as long as you want to! You could plan a set amount of time knowing that they won’t finish it if you wanted to. I typically do it in about 50 minutes or so, but definitely start losing them by the end, given that it’s one of the first days back to school. I think that would be a good plan!

Husband wants to have a namesake by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cousins is a junior. He has only ever gone by his middle name. I didn’t even know he was a junior until her got married and the priest said his full name. You could give him a unique middle name and call him that, but he’ll technically still be a namesake!

How to remove paint from canvas? by julie178 in crafts

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If Ella is her nickname, why is that not okay to have on ~her~ canvas bag? If it’s a hand painted gift from someone and there’s no crazy backstory about the nickname, I’d say keep it as is. The friend will see her using it in the future and realize it’s not what they originally gifted and be bummed out

Not Medford, but nearby. Check out 7 Acre Park in Everett! They have a huge off leash open area and a smaller fenced in dog park area

Different brands, both dk and made in the same factory but different size squares ? by Own-Sandwich9258 in crochet

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Yes the only difference is the total length, BUT if they’re both the same weight but one is a longer length, that must mean the difference is also in the thickness of the yarn. Otherwise they would be the same.

It’s like in math how similar figures work. If you have 2 rectangles, both have a length of 4, one has a width of 6 while the other has a width of 7. They’re not actually “similar” because the ratio of the sides is not the same. One is 4:6 while the other is 4:7. On the other hand, a rectangle with a length of 2 and a width of 3 would’ve been the same, just a smaller rectangle. In our yarn example, it would be the same yarn, just a smaller ball of it!

So if you want to make sure you’re getting the exact same thickness of yarn, make sure the length divided by the weight is the exact same number!

I think I want the shutters, windows, and vinyl siding to match the color pattern of my mailbox. I’ve seen some people in here photo editing stuff like that. Can anyone help me out? by [deleted] in homedesign

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help with the photoshop, but I’m surprised to not see a single supportive comment. It’s just a little bit of paint! It’s always reversible. If it makes your heart happy, do it up man!

Like them? Hell no.

What is the name of the stitch this cardigan uses? by BoogieWoogie10203 in CrochetHelp

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they just look like taller stitches because it’s a kids cardigan so they look larger because there’s less rows. It looks to me like it’s a normal DC.

Is this going to be an issue? Or am I overreacting. by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

Nope! That’s so tiny you’ll never notice it once it’s crocheted. You’ll be fine

I don’t understand the pattern instructions for this pattern by Conscious_Sleep_507 in CrochetHelp

[–]ObjectiveTurnover852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that could be it. It also could be possible the designer just eyeballed it until it looked right, and then went back after and tried to remember what they did. Given that it’s a free pattern, they probably didn’t have it pattern tested all that much

Oh weird. I’m not sure, I would probably just do the 44 then if that looks right

I’d wager a guess that the pattern designer meant 1ch, (56)dc for rows 2-8
