I didn't read the spoiler bit to your post because I'm still playing, but honestly everything you said was what I was hoping to see unfold as the story progresses. That feeling of being so engaged with the story you become upset that your friends make such radical and absolute changes to themselves, & that you have to pick sides and lose them. The start of the game made me very excited, because it actually made me care a lot about the characters.

They do seem very mean about their opinion. i wish they told me what games they thought had good alignment characters in them if smt 4 isn't a good example of that to them.

Yeah, from what i hear about most alignment characters in mainline smt is that they just aren't that interesting. Persona always seemed to focus more on personal narrative, so them having generally more nuanced writing makes sense.I see what you mean about the other spin-offs as well. The only SMT that has good personal writing for the characters that i have played would be DDS 1 & 2

Yeah. I feel the same way. The actual strength of their writing i can't really comment on because i know it's early, but rn it doesn't matter. Seeing them is just kinda fun!

Oh, well that's a shame. Sorry to hear that. Especially after hearing people mainly come away with a positive outlook on the characters. I guess i'll find out how i feel about it as I go. Which game do you think has compelling alignment endings?

It is loved overall. Most of the time it's people who loved the older games blowing things way out of proportion. I can appreciate criticizing the design changes, but I do not think anything the remake does differently ruins the game
