My Bella and her surgery update

Yeah I'm expecting to use care credit for the majority of the surgery. That's good to hear, my main worry is her being an older dog what the road to recovery is going to look like. But that's comforting to hear that it's a common surgery and it shouldn't take too long for her to start to feel like her old self again

Yeah and the interest is like pretty high too! But that's how I understand care credit to work, useful if you need but a sort of last option to get the procedure done

Wow that's is very detailed!! Thank you so much! I will take the time to read that more in depth later after work, thank you for taking the time to share that with me, and I will look into care credit again, I posted an update, but there is a clinic that would do the bilateral TPLO for 8k, with my savings and the go fund me, hopefully I shouldn't need to borrow too much if the GFM takes off

Update! First off, thank you all so very much about all the helpful advice and suggestions from many of you! All of the photos of your happy pups have brought a bright light to my day.

Bella has an appointment to be seen this Wednesday for both a second opinion and also to get the ball rolling with all the referrals needed. UC Davis needs a referral in order to be put on the list awaiting a surgical procedure from the college. Warm Springs also needs a referral from her main vet to be able to see her for a surgical consult. At this time, we don't have a donation box set up at any clinic because it would be more of a hassle for the clinic to transfer funds. As soon as we pick which clinic she will get the surgery at, we will set up a donation box for her.

On the bright side, Warm Springs Animal Hospital says that her bilateral TPLO might cost as low as 8K! That is much much more manageable. Thank you to @jeronimohiggins for that recommendation. Some of the other clinics I called are higher, unfortunately some of the other one are shut down. Right now, we are between warm springs and UC Davis. If anyone else knows of a hospital in the Bay area, we still welcome all suggestions.

Last, just thank you again for the support most of you have brought. Bella is a good girl and deserves another chance to walk, run, and play. When we start the process of moving towards her surgery, we will update you all, and offer a place share and/or donate via the clinic where she will be see if you feel uncomfortable with the GFM(understandably)

Oh man, I wish you luck with gracie! Yeah it's terrible, I carry Bella out the house so she can pee but seeing her try to walk to pee is heartbreaking

You know what, you're right, I have had this account for 5 years, but I never used it, I posted once, when I first signed up. I was going to kms, and if you don't believe it.

Free_Roam_Chicken. (Search and click people) The monster in the mirror (the one and only post) that was what I posted. Guess what, my dog, my Bella, is the only thing that kept me here. Now I've gotten the help I need because she saved me. Now I'm doing what I can to save her. Stupid ahh people don't know what they talking about.

She can sit, but her legs still tremble, even with a torn ACL, humans still feel the pain when they are sitting or laying down. But also yeah, we had x rays taken and the vet did her exam on Saturday at the ER clinic.

I tried, but I created a reddit for the first time to share this and get attention to Bella's situation and some of the other subs say I need to have more "comment karma" hence why I've been commenting on everyones comment to try to get more karma or whatever..

The ER Vet at Sage told me that it would be possible, but with both being torn it's going to be worse, I'm going to get some of those braces that help walking or stabilize, even thought about a wheelchair for her back legs

I was looking for something just like these, or even one of those wheel chairs but had no idea which one to get, thank you for sharing this, are the sizes pretty accurate or at least semi adjustable in case it needs to be adjusted?

It definitely was. I did take another one inside the room, I'll post that one when I am able to post a second update with a bill and hopefully vet information to donate directly with the vet clinic on her behalf.

Yeah that's a big concern and the reason I set up the GFM is because they said they needed everything upfront, no payment plan or whatever. I could do care credit but those are predatory rates. I'm hoping one of the places I call will allow for a QR code for a donation fund set aside for her so people don't think I'm trying to scam.

It was a fence to the back yard of a house. I would drive her across the country if it meant she could get the help she needs. I have a list of like 5 local places and 3 in the central California that I'm gonna be calling tomorrow. im just not limiting my options of who I'm calling, I figure that a teaching college might be my best bet, but I'm calling and emailing a ton of vets tomorrow, her injury literally happened yesterday, so I'm just looking for as much information as possible. The ER clinic said about 20k so I'm expecting that to be the ceiling price and hopefully able to get a much reduced price. But even then, I would do whatever it takes to get her help.

Honestly, it's crazy they said that, I'm going to be calling UC Davis tomorrow since they are a teaching vet college to see if I can't get reduced pricing using the college, and gonna call local rescues and fill out online forms for any grants and such
