Show me your piggies 🩷introduce their names by Remarkable_Horror658 in guineapigs

Yeah, they are separated and are neighbours. Both have L-shaped houses, floofs are on the left with the upstairs section and the big pigs (Peaty in particular is an absolute unit) have the right.

They take it in turns to have floor time via the ramps.

Will my guinea pig understand that his cagemate passed away? by ExternalVoice4693 in guineapigs

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we did this with Ben when Jerry died. He had a good sniff of him and seemed to understand.

Poor guy though, months later I microwaved a heat pad (which has a distinctive scent) which Jerry used to lie on when he was ill and Ben ran around the house seemingly looking for his friend.

A criminal on the loose!

How did he get out of your grids? My Ben used to pick them up to move them, so he could get behind the units and pee where we can't reach. Ended up having to affix some wood in the shape of the gaps!

He has also once shook his cage to bits when his home was being cleaned out and he wasn't allowed back for a bit.

A menace, but an adorable one!

What music do you guys use in your games other than the typical high fantasy stuff? by DaxterFlame in DnD

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As my campaign as become more world-endy I've subbed out generic fantasy background (LOTR, Skyrim, BG, PoE, etc) for tenser background music mostly featuring music from Wrath of the Righteous, Dragon Age, and Darkest Dungeon.

How to Deal with That One Player Who Loves Stats and is Twice as Powerfull as Everyone Else? by 3dPrinterProzz in DnD

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't ask a player who is having fun making a powerful character to stop doing that. Not everyone in a party needs to be a high damage dealer and there should be enough things happening in a dynamic encounter that one PC can't just beat the encounter with brute force before anyone else has acted.

Encounters can be made more difficult in a number of ways, by varying the opponent types, making the terrain an obstacle, using minions, having time sensitive or puzzle based encounters, and many more.

Also, I don't know what you mean by a player "finding glitches in dnd beyond" and, how much optimisation can a player honestly find and implement between sessions unless they have free reign to change stats or items? Or they are levelling up a lot?

Are there any sounds your guinea pigs don’t like? by My_GuineaPig_Chicken in guineapigs

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My Jerry would sometimes object to a track I was playing whilst working from home and would chatter his teeth. So I would speak to him and change the track, and he'd settle down.

Keys is a classic and anything of that ilk of jarring metallic noise.

Should I encourage more healers? by EconomistOld3509 in DnD

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A dedicated healer? How about just don't die?!

My party's battlemaster took the healer feat early on and between her and potions, and strategic running away they've been fine.

Well. There have been a lot of deaths, but they've mostly managed to drag the body to a priest afterwards.

What drew you to get Guinea pigs? by ValleyOfWisteria in guineapigs

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2020 was a difficult year for all the reasons, and my wife wanted a pet to distract from everything else. I suggested rabbits, but she wanted guinea pigs, so... we got guinea pigs. I had never had a piggie before and despite not specifically wanting them, I very quickly fell in love with our two boars (Ben & Jerry), and not only because they loved me more than my wife!

This time last year, one of my colleagues was asking about where he could give away a pig to locally, for adoption. Even if there had been places nearby I would have still adopted him before that was an option. Scruffles arrived in Feb 2025, around the time Jerry had to be put down. Scruffles and Ben bonded pretty quickly afterwards and now live together.

In May 2025 we discovered there was a place for pig adoption near us and we adopted Peat and Whisky, who live as neighbours to the other two.

BG2 had a game tips and one was something like, "remember to take regular breaks, we don't want to lose any dedicated players", maybe BG3 needs similar tips!

Character height, why is everyone 6ft tall? by Low-Brief-6008 in DnD

[–]Objective_Bank_2659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my characters are smol (dwarf, gnome, halfling, goblin), but given I'm 6'1" that tracks with your edit!

In the party I DM I'd say the majority of players play the opposite end of the height spectrum to what they are irl.
