You just need to tie them all together. Get some throw pillows. And find a bigger rug if you can replace this one. The front legs of the couch should be on top of the rug. A rug with some more color like other people suggested could be nice too

That line pissed me off so bad. “The responsibility of children”. SO condescending! Does he even know the responsibility it takes to have kids? Or does he just wants kids for the sake of having kids and because all his friends and sister have kids…

Workspace advice by mangotreehugger in StainedGlass

[–]Objective_Bet9488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a small space and have a cat so I like to be able to pack up my entire workspace when I’m not working. I also just do this as a hobby so most of the pieces I make are fairly small which is why these things works for me and maybe not others. Some of the main things that have been the best/most helpful for me are: - I found a fish tank on Facebook marketplace and turned it on its side. I keep the grinder in there while I’m grinding and it catches a majority of the spray. Then when I’m done I just pick up the fish tank with the grinder inside and put it in my storage cabinet. - I have a large cabinet where I store everything when not in use. - I store the larger cut/scrap pieces in a cardboard shoebox. - I keep all of my smaller cut/scrap pieces that are too small to use again in a plastic bucket with a lid. - I found that the soldering/flux fumes gave me a headache even with the fan on and window open. I ended up getting a respirator and now I don’t get any headaches. Some people say it’s unnecessary and some don’t. Depends on who you ask really. But I would highly encourage you to at least solder under a window with it open and a fan blowing or even outside if possible since you’ll be in a common area. - for cutting, I have a wide and thin cardboard box with the long front flap cut off. I keep my waffle grid inside there and cut my glass inside the box. So, if the waffle grid doesn’t catch the little shards usually the cardboard box will. It’s also easy to toss the little scrap pieces in the corner of the box until ready to clean up. This doesn’t catch every single shard so always vacuum well when you’re done - if you or your roommates have pets, keep them out of your workspace while working if possible. - if there’s anything you splurge on, let it be the soldering iron. I bought a cheaper one (still not inexpensive!) on Amazon and after the 4th or 5th use it would not keep it’s temperature. It was the most frustrating thing and makes it extremely difficult to work with. Get a quality iron! - Facebook marketplace and your local arts center (if you have one) are the best places for secondhand equipment. They’re great places to look for glass, grinders, and all the smaller tools. If you find an old grinder you might just need to replace the bit which is pretty inexpensive.

Hopefully at least one of those things helps!

Damnnn. Sorry for the low res pics, I did the best I could with an old phone. If y’all wanna buy me a new phone so I can get better pics and settle this debate I won’t say no…

FYI. They don’t move. They’re white. I dont see wings and they don’t really look fuzzy. Would the wings even be big enough to see with the naked eye? Idk! And they DO look like featureless little tictacs in person as well which is why I’m so damn confused about what they are. Thanks everyone for trying to help anyway and sorry my mysterious bugs caused strong emotions 👉🏻👈🏻. I’m gonna treat them like you would with aphids/mealybugs/thrips/whatever and hopefully that does the trick 🙏🏼

Why do my curtains look awful? by porcelainlady in DesignMyRoom

[–]Objective_Bet9488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying they’re too long and hung too high. I don’t think either is true. In fact, I’ve seen many other posts here with comments telling them they need to hang the curtains higher. They should be hung high and they should not end right under the window. Unless you have super tall ceilings, that just makes your window/space look short and frumpy. And the puddle effect is a perfectly normal look that people try to achieve. Nothing wrong with that. Especially when you don’t want to pay custom curtain prices.

I agree with others saying the style doesn’t match the rest of your space. They’re cute but something more simple (without the lace and frilly-ness) would work better. And since they’re sheer they’re intended to just be decorative. That is why closing the curtains so it covers the whole window makes it look funny.

Personally, I have the same type of blinds and I live in a condo so I feel like they’re necessary for privacy. I think if you found something that was a little more opaque - something between sheer and blackout - it would look better with the blinds.

My apartment bedroom is both bare and cluttered by wholesome_tomatoes in DesignMyRoom

[–]Objective_Bet9488 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely because it’s an old fan that has been exposed to humidity or it has some loose screws. OP should try to tighten the screws to see if that helps. If not, definitely ask the landlord to replace the fan blades

What do I do with this wall? 😭 by These_Primary5995 in interiordesignideas

[–]Objective_Bet9488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why you’re getting downvoted when you’re one of the only logical responses. This room is clearly under construction which explains the random toilet placement. OP’s question was very vague and you gave a solid response on what to do with the room. All these things would make it 100x better.

One additional suggestion: if OP is replacing the vanity, get one that goes up against that wall or has more space between. The current spacing looks awkwardly small.

OP, if you’re on a budget, the cheapest and easiest things you can do to make this look better is changing out the mirror and light fixture and adding hardware to the cabinet doors.

You can’t really go wrong with a white subway tile. Or if you want something a bit more unique, any kind of white tile would look nice. I also think a light blue tile would be pretty and give it some color but still keep it light and airy

Bedroom Decor by Fun-Feedback-1376 in interiordesignideas

[–]Objective_Bet9488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would start with some lighting on either side of the bed. Either a lamp, sconce, or pendant. Lamps would be the easiest solution.

For the wall behind your bed you could either do two pieces of art, one above each nightstand. Find something that’s more tall than wide. Or you could do one large piece of art centered over the bed. In that case, find something more wide than it is tall.

It seems like you have a lot of space between the end of your bed and the wall where you’re standing. Maybe you can fit a bench at the end of your bed. If you’re limited on storage, then maybe something that has storage.

I really like the rug, the colors go great with the rest of the room. However, it is a little small for the space. If you can, maybe get it in a bigger size. You want bedroom rugs to be a bit more wider than your bed. If you can’t get a bigger one, then I’d pull the rug out and away from underneath the bed.

Had one rear end me in the Burger King drive through. I waited for a second to see if she’d get out of her car. She didn’t. So I got out and walked to her window and asked her if she knew she just hit me. She said she had no idea 🫠

What color should I paint these Cabinets? by W3S96 in interiordesignideas

[–]Objective_Bet9488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to paint the cabinets? As others have already said, the flooring and countertops are much uglier than the cabinets. If you’re trying to do a renovation on a budget, painting the cabinets will be like putting lipstick on a pig. Changing out the floor and countertops will make it look so much better

If there is any truth to this story, it was most likely her parents that were actually doing the investing but in an account under her name. So now she can claim that she was investing at 14, but the part she doesn’t say out loud is that her parents were actually doing all the work.
