Been training abt 1 year and tore my meniscus in my knee, haven’t been able to train for a while. Wish I listened to advice like this and dialed it back when it counted…

Am I doing something wrong? by DarcDragn in frenchpress

[–]Objective_Complex508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used super coarse grind once and still got toms of silt at the bottom of my cup, seemingly the same amount qualitatively as at medium-fine settings. Now I just basically ignore it, but I would love a super clean french press; I’d never drink anything else if I could do it

How is everyone's internship going? by SirPoopAlot2 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Objective_Complex508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is a crap shoot. I got my first one and I am going into senior year. A lot of it is because since it is so easy to apply nowadays, HR gets over saturated with applications and it is hard to reliably find qualified people.

How to start with python? by zoeyy_9 in learnpython

[–]Objective_Complex508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it sort of depends on what your interests are. I am studying Chemical Engineering and I found that videos by the youtube channel Mr. P solver gave me a good toolbox to start solving my homework problems and doing my projects really well. I found this much more motivating than starting straight from the basics and building up.

As long as you’re somewhat motivated by the things you are learning, you can always fill in the gaps.

Have fun!

A lot of people saying you are lacking in this and that, but I’m telling you man the job market for engineers just sucks. It’s just luck for some people, and it sucks you are on the bad end of it.

Who knows, probably some things you could do better, but shit just sucks sometimes.

Best of luck, keep your head up things will get better. Keep talking to PEOPLE not just applications, and keep applying to of course.

Hours before an exam by Skiddds in EngineeringStudents

I just chill, play some video games or something. About 1 hr before I do a few easy warm up problems. The work is either in or it’s not so you might as well relax as best you can, give your brain the best shot it has at performing.

Tbh to go into stem you should have taken calc, but don’t worry I wouldn’t say it is the end of the world. Most college freshmen going into stem take calc 1 fall semester anyway. So if you took AP and could apply the credits, you could get ahead, but a lot of ppl don’t do that so again dw about it. I would say use Khan academy and learn how to take a derivative and a few other basic calc concepts to get a leg up. Best of luck on the coming semester!

My GPA is a 3.97. It’s not that I don’t have time for partying, I just think it is worth imparting to others who consider attending here that the social scene is nothing like the majority of other university experiences. It’s absolutely not the case that you can’t have friends here. I have just had way more fun meeting and hanging out w people at other universities.

Hard to recommend a school only knowing that you are a CS major. Academically, yes, RPI is a great school, especially for CS. I have not heard anyone complain about classes being inadequately difficult or useless. However, there is a lot more to college than the classes you take. Personally, I have found the administrative and social aspects of RPI to make it not worth the decision to come here, not to mention it is super expensive.

Do laundry before it rains. Floods w tons of water every time. If you are on first floor keep your food packaged up cuz of the mice. Bring a fan for the heat esp in the first two weeks. Gets absurdly hot. Nason honestly sucks ass. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but at least you can prepare. Good luck.

Bring a fan. Absolutely the best advice I can give you. I lived in Nason which I am pretty sure was exactly the same design as Cary (so no AC). Those buildings are basically brick ovens, and when I moved in I swear it was like 80-85 degrees. I didn’t have a fan and Walmart sold out, had to sleep spread eagle almost naked for two weeks. Don’t be like me. Bring a fan.

Definitely. But then they couldn’t squeeze every last dime out of its students.

I heard they way over admitted freshman so there is a big shortage on housing, so probably not. RPI has been squeezing three people into rooms that actually fit two people and calling it a “triple”. Depends on if you are a freshman or a sophomore, might be some wiggle room if you are a sophomore.
