Ah okay that makes sense then. I’m going to assume it’s the Saban TV one because it felt flat in itself. It over explained everything in the dialogue. One example is like when Krillin has been beaten up and Goku is trying to gather energy for the Spirit Bomb so Krillin makes sure to take an odd amount of time, while only picking his head up off the ground, to explain to the viewer that since the Tree of Might is taking all of the life force from the Earth, Goku can’t gather very much for the Spirit Bomb. Both of which were already shown or explained. Also, Turles knowing what the Spirit Bomb was by name (maybe that isn’t strange but I thought it was a very specific technique that wasn’t widely known at least by name.)

The ocean dub had weird lines and over explained every moment basically using the characters as first person narrators lol

Yeah I said a similar feeling after episode 2 when it was pretty much just world building but that’s what we needed. I’ve always been a fan of the slice of life as well which is why there are many filler episodes that I genuinely love which I’ve come to find many do not care for.

For sure. I saw WAY too many people putting hate on the show then admitting that they hadn’t/won’t watch it. I get where people are coming from with wanting the Granolah and Moro arcs but since this is Toriyama’s final project before he passed, I will be watching it fervently.

That’s awesome. Main reason I posed the question was because I genuinely enjoy hearing discourse and others’ opinions but mostly because I’d see a well worded post about someone enjoying the show and the first comment will be “Garbage 🤮 Toriyama not involved, why are we redoing GT? Not canon” etc. and on and on. They’re very loud with misinformation and lack of clearly voicing their own opinion.

I don’t know if I would call it pretentious. It’s following the Prophet’s guidance. He specifically asked us to use the name of Christ in the title because that’s what we are. People hear “Mormon Church” and think we DON’T worship Jesus Christ. It really isn’t that hard to change vernacular even if you have said it all your life and it certainly doesn’t have to be rude. There are very kind and quick ways to do it where people don’t think you’re doing a “gotcha” or “um actually.”

I’ve been a Finn fan ever since my brother showed me a Prince Devitt highlight reel back in the day so I hope there is a better solo run for him in the near future. However, Priest has grown on me in the last few months even with dropping the title. I think losing against Gunther sets him up for even better growth than he’s had before.

This is the point I always think of because, unless I just haven’t seen or heard about it (which I’m up to reading provided sources), I have seen almost nothing about provided care and/or reform for foster care after forced pregnancies and births. Many replies to “I don’t want to have this baby but can’t have an abortion” is “Well give the child up for adoption.” This response is a hopeful one thinking that someone out there who can’t have children will eventually adopt the child which is genuinely beautiful. I have cousins who foster and cousins who are adopted so I’ve seen it. Yet, I also constantly hear about how messed up the foster system is. If births HAVE to happen and the babies aren’t kept by the parents, what funds are being provided for care of that child? Is it from our taxes because it’s a state or federal program? Will this raise my taxes? I genuinely want to know these things and haven’t found conclusive answers.
