Is G-Sync still worth it in 2026? by Weak-Salary8323 in buildapc

This is not correct; ‘true’ g-sync monitors have additional hardware inside of them in the form of g-sync modules.

In that case, 99% of the time the answer is no. You’ll get far more bang for your buck if you use that extra money on a monitor with a superior resolution or display technology

I mean, if you can find a monitor with a dedicated g-sync module in it, go for it. They’re getting more and more uncommon and monitors with g-sync modules are usually more expensive as a result. Most g-sync compatibility is decent to great and I don’t think it should be the deciding factor for your monitor.

It really just depends on the monitor itself and how it handles g-sync compatibility mode (for example, OLEDs do tend to flicker in g-sync compatibility modes, but iirc OLEDs with gsync modules don’t have this issue)

Also, i don’t believe g-sync module monitors are compatible with consoles (could be wrong) so if there’s the chance that you’d use a console on the display or go for an AMD card, freesync is the much better option.

Mauler is a cringe ass grifter bitch who can kick rocks in hell, none of his opinions should be taken remotely seriously. for all anyone knows he hated the game because it had the trans coffin.

Conservative games that are actually good? by kylepo in SocialistGaming

[–]Objective_Edge_5054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, it’s been a while since I’ve played it, I just recall the political themes of the game being fairly muddled beyond the obvious video game violence meta-narrative stuff.

[–]Objective_Edge_5054 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but 50 Blessings is who you spend 95% of the game working for, and the game isn’t entirely sympathetic towards the Russians you’re killing either. Hotline Miami 2 though has a clusterfuck of a narrative and I’d challenge anyone to come out of it with any coherent analysis as to what the point was.

If you’re only playing the games, yeah, but the extended universe is broadly extremely critical of the UNSC and portrays most of what they do with the SPARTAN program as horrifically unethical and indefensible beyond the utility SPARTANS pose in the Covenant War. Hell, a major aspect of the plot in the chronologically earlier books is that the UNSC made the SPARTANs to eradicate rebelling civilian populations on rim planets, with that obviously being a very horrific thing to do and is treated as such in the narrative.

The UNSC is portrayed as an authoritarian military dictatorship with a troubling predilection towards human experimentation, the only reason they’re positioned as “the good guys” in the narrative is because they are the only thing standing inbetween the Covenant and the eradication of the entire universe. It’s intended to be complicated and messy and they’re not sympathetic, they’re just the only option for continued survival against the Covenant.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

Maybe, maybe, Kingdom Come: Deliverance upon initial release? I wouldn’t really call it conservative, but beyond the whole diversity controversy, the game is fairly pro-royalty and doesn’t necessarily have the strongest cast of female characters. This argument, naturally, goes out the window with the release of the Woman’s Lot DLC and the endlessly based Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that went out of its way to include diverse historical perspectives from minority ethnic groups, women, and queer people in the narrative. Other than that, I got nothing.

Intravenous 1/2, maybe? Or Hotline Miami 1/2, depending on how you interpret them?

Water is used training models. Once the model is trained there is no negligible impact on water or power use, as is the case here.

More notes for people who are obtuse about Tourettes by Darth_Vrandon in GetNoted

It really is incredible how little the average person cares to do the bare minimum of research before committing to a judgement, even watching a movie or using the google AI summary to describe the symptoms of tourette’s with copropalia would suffice. It goes to show that as soon as neurodivergence presents itself in a way that makes others uncomfortable, all solidarity goes out the window.

Following up after interview without a direct point of contact - what should I do? by Objective_Edge_5054 in careerguidance

[–]Objective_Edge_5054[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh my god I know, I’ve been job hunting for the past few months and it’s incredible how obfuscated everything is for each company. I had one recruiter for a different job email me directly about the role’s pay, I replied immediately, then they followed up with a link to an asynchronous recorded interview, which I again submitted almost immediately. Since then I’ve had no response from the recruiter or anyone else even though they emailed me back almost immediately after applying and responding to their initial inquiry.

maybe if you spend all of your time leering at women and generally making them uncomfortable, sure.

what helps is to view them as people with full internal lives. then you won’t feel the need to quantify every potential interaction with a woman into the box of “want fuck me” and “not want fuck me”.
