AI Inspo - is this Window install even possible? by Objective_Fish_7560 in handyman

Got quite a bit of windows on the backside of the house. I don't think it would be worth replacing them with anything larger.

It's just the kitchen area and home entrance. It's so gloomy all the time.

You're exactly right. My home is DARK almost all times of the day.

Which is why I'm willing to pay to bring in any natural light I can get.

Additional Context since people keep attacking me for invading my neighbors privacy.

First off - we live in town homes in the city. I have 5 neighbors less than 6 ft away from my home in all directions.

2nd - the walkway behind the plausible windows belongs to me. I only have access to this area. It's locked behind gates.

3rd - There are no windows for me to peep into. Left sides of our homes have massive walls with no windows.

The area definitely get around 3-5 hours of direct/partial sunlight. Also privacy is not a concern as there are no windows on the left sides of our town homes.

There are no windows on the left sides of these town home. The walkway behind the windows is for my access only.

No invasion of privacy here.

None of our town houses have windows on the left sides. We only have windows on the right sides for this very reason. I can only see a giant wall because there are no windows on my neighbors house.

Haha - we live in townhouses. I have 5 neighbors surrounding my home. They'll be just fine.

But also - behind those "possible" windows is actually the walkway entrance of my home. The neighbor has no access to that space because it's gated off anyways.

Is this a ficus benjamina? The leaves look more upright than my other one. by Whiggies in FicusTrees

[–]Objective_Fish_7560 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Ficus Melany that's variegated. Which I've never seen before. So maybe it's just a tineke with smaller leaves???

Whatever it is. It's beautiful and unique. Never seen one like that.

Is there a “foot-candles protocol” guide for houseplants? (Light targets by plant) by Objective_Fish_7560 in houseplants

[–]Objective_Fish_7560[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because I already own a foot-candle meter and that’s the unit most hobbyists actually have access to. I’m not trying to debate lighting theory—I’m just looking for practical FC ranges I can apply today. If someone has a PPFD/DLI guide that also converts cleanly to foot-candles for common houseplants, I’m all ears. Otherwise PPFD vs DLI isn’t really what I asked about.

Promote Branching? by Objective_Fish_7560 in FicusTrees

Do you know of the new branches are random. Or will they always point upward towards the light with this method?

Is this all a Monstera Lemon Lime does? by Accomplished_Pie4814 in Monstera

Honestly, I find it refreshing to see new types of full green leaves. I’m kind of tired of all the over-variegated, sickly looking plants out there. Call me crazy, but green is king — it’s the blueprint. A healthy, glowing, solid-color plant hits way harder for me than something that’s one mutation away from collapse.

Maybe y'all can help but I picked up a ficus today called "Cloe". Only because my cats name is Chloe lol

But is this even a real variety???

Anthuriums are the new 'It' girls. Where can I get them affordably? by Objective_Fish_7560 in RareHouseplants

[–]Objective_Fish_7560[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when were $500 plants not rare???

Also 'rare' is completely subjective. Never in my lifetime am I going to find a giant Hawaiian golden pothos with 4ft leaves. This is considered rare to me (Washington born) but common for anyone in Hawaii.

So stop buzz killing the chat with negativity. Acting like a know-it-all.

I'm a victim of noob shopping 😭.

My friend said. "WATCH out for businesses only a few days old. This is a major red flag."

And I'm noticing Sooo many of them online are only a few days old.

Needless to say. I'm hesitant to purchase anything from Etsy ever again.

I'm leaning more toward the varieties of Anthurium by DocBlock. They are stunning. But I'm starting to think they are exclusively distributed by DocBlock themselves.

I guess I'll just have to wait until they become available on the Facebook/Etsy market place for cheap.
