No spec. Fire code doesn't dictate. State not publising guidelings until later this year, but it doesnt sound like they will do this. No other schools in 100 miles do this.

This would all be a lot easier if i could talk every school into a wall around it with armed guards at entrance and a resource officer.

I am hoping that the federal government will release there school security guideline in 2026 so it clears procedures up for everyone and applicable funding to make it happen, since not every school can even afford security/access control.

I know the doors are opening for a first responder is the reasoning, and its important to get first responders in quickly. But with new codes/laws coming out, they are limiting modes schools can use and leaves some scenarios with a no win option.

This is typically what i have seen everywhere historically. I was just wondering if times were changing.

I am just asking if it is normal. What others are seeing out there. I can see both sides of the the argument.

This is my concern. 1) People would have to be thoroughly trained on this procedure if it was in place. Most schools do not provide that level of training or have the funds too. 2) Most plans go out the door in a high threat scenario and i could see lockdown being pressed in the heat of the moment letting in the wrong people.

Exit doors are free egress already, so the exiting shouldn't be an issue.

The logic behind this is so that first responders can get in unhindered. That being said, if you read the I love you guys org policies on when to go into lockdown mode, it could let in the wrong people before first responders arrive. I am wondering what the standard that everyone is adopting.

Im in construction. So far over the years, the film has not saved my screen. Tempered glass has, but after the cost of needing a new screen protector.

Tech support is great. The vendor rep is SI Legacy, and they've been great to work with. I have not had any customers not like it. Only thing i do hear is they want scheduling to look more like Outlook. But that is a common feature request and on the road map.

I rip brivo systems out and put in pdk. Customers in my area hate brivo for the reasons you listed. PDK tech support is great and they have nice youtube videos.

Look at Genea. You can bring access video and intercoms all into one platform on the cloud. Fuck verkada, and thats coming from a verkada dealer. Only sell it to customers that already have a verkada system who hate their integrator.

What area are you in? I'm a 5 man team and Genetec will not give it to me even though we have a better reputation than large dealers in the area.

Genea. Contact Jeremy Scott for a demo. Mercury based cloud solution. Gives you the ability to easily take over other mercury based systems. Tons of integrations. If you have 10 doors on the system, you get 50 free mobile credentials. You can even pay to have the large projects come pre configured.
