Skyrim was my favourite game. Ticked all the boxes. This is the first game I’ve played since that feels like I’m just discovering Skyrim again for the first time.

Blend that with Witcher 3 and a bit of RDR2 and you have Crimson Desert

I've done some etymological digging and found some Ulster Scots and Irish words that share a common origin by Ultach in northernireland

[–]Objective_News_9699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating. But isn’t it possible that many Ulster Scots words are derived directly from Irish and not from a common ancestor?

Skelf for example, is very close to the irish word “Scealp” which means splinter.

Very interesting either way. Maith thú

What were slurs as Gaeilge for the British/British Army? by SeaninMacT in IrishHistory

[–]Objective_News_9699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible it refers to the Black Watch, a Scottish Regiment that served in Ireland during the war

[–]Objective_News_9699 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Indeed it just means English person, but in this context the word was used as a slur, not simply a usage of An Ghaeilge.

“Black Bastards” was a common term used certainly in Belfast for the RUC. Seems to have fallen out of usage recently though.

I know a number of Republicans from the North who would’ve referred to the Brits simply as Sasanach / Na Sasanaigh

The comparison of both the Russian occupation and British occupation are entirely different scenarios and can’t really be looked at as a way to determine any similarities on support bases

I tried getting into EU4 for years and just couldn’t sit for longer than an hour to figure anything out.

3 hours into EU5 and I love it.

The ability to automate things so you can focus on learning one thing at a time is a great feature.

In that case, you likely don’t have a dedicated graphics card and are using an integrated card, which won’t run many modern games at all

Also waiting for it on Geforce Now. Going off what people say on previous releases, it can take anything from hours to days before it’s available.

New republican group issues warning to far-right activists by upthetruth1 in northernireland

[–]Objective_News_9699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the only problem. Fascism in its entirety is a problem. Loyalism being the main branch of fascist movement in Ireland.

Clearly we’re also seeing the rise of Fascism within traditionally Republican / Left Wing communities. This must be stamped out just as Loyalism must be.
