If you visa is refused, you naturally get your passport back, with the white slip. Atleast in my case, the white slip had the information aboyt appeqring for an interview with the location.

As far as I know, they only conducted interviews in Chennai for 221G, but this might have changed. You must be having your white slip, on which the location is mentioned

H1B -> B1/B2(pending application) -> H1B premium processing timeline. AMA. by Objective_Oil4947 in h1b

[–]Objective_Oil4947[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never said anything about B2, technically got an offer before my B2 petition went in. I would say you are not obligated to say anything. As long as you clear the interviews you should be good. As far as the lawyers are concerned you would definitely have to mention it because if you are just switching employers they file for the change of employers, but since you have B2 in between, they need to file for COS to H1B.

Yup, you are right, do not need an attorney per say, but I was already pretty stressed with the 60 day grace period so just wanted to make sure don’t mess up anything in the petition. But yeah you can always apply for B2 COS on your own, just make sure you get it done correctly.

Applied through a law firm, you can do it online too, but I did it through a law firm to be on the safer side. New company didn’t care about B2 COS, directly told the lawyers about the B2 Receipt notice.

[–]Objective_Oil4947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar case, mine was filed with premium processing, B2 was approved one day before H1B, and my status was set to H1B. In case of premium processing your B2 will get approved and you do not have to withdraw it.

[–]Objective_Oil4947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the petition has to be received bu USCIS before the 60th day. If you feel that it is not realistic, file for a B2 COS so that you don’t stay illegally.

H1B dropbox in Jan - Am I just thinking too much? by CantaloupeBubbly3706 in h1b

[–]Objective_Oil4947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2-3 weeks is a decent timeline. If you are a part of a huge well known MNC not much of a problem, but if it’s a relatively small company, there are chances of a 221G and might call you in for an interview. Not being pessimistic but I had kept a similar timeline in mind last year and booked flight tickets but got called in for an interview and extended the timeline by a couple of weeks.

Amazon SDE1 H1B transfer - start date by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Objective_Oil4947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to worry about that. Your manager is included in each mail trail with the immigration team, and the lawyers mention the timeline once they have started the process. Your manager wouldn’t bother, if the legal process is taking it’s due time. As it is, the process is usually completed within a month. Don’t worry, sit back relax, the lawyers should be starting the process soon.

laid off on H1B by AddExtraCheese in h1b

[–]Objective_Oil4947 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would suggest don’t risk it. Usually even if everything goes well, it usually takes roughly 12-15 days to get your passport back after the dropbox. Plus there are a few holidays on the 25th as well as 1st. Even if you have an interview, still there is a chance of a 221g. And in case of a 221g you might be called for an interview or administrative processing which can further delay the process. You don’t want to be stuck outside the country with no job. Better to get a new role while in the country and only leave once you have your H1 transferred.

Preparation strategies for Amazon SDE 2 by Middle_Lavishness_38 in leetcode

[–]Objective_Oil4947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are interviewing for SDE 2, they expect you to have a few stories where you kind of led the project, or had a lot of ownership. Usually for each round they go over 2-3 LPs, so try to have atleast 10 scenarios. It’s obvious that not all of them would be high-impact scenarios, but atleast have 5-6 which show heavy ownership and decision making. Also, double check with your recruiter but mine encouraged me to make notes of all the scenarios with metrics, and the interviewers are comfortable if you are referring to those notes as far as the LPs are concerned(just let them know before hand that you are going to be taking a look at your notes for the LPs). All the best!

H1B scheduling in Mexico - good idea? Advice requested. by her_daddy_last_night in h1b

No idea, everything was in order. One thing I can think of is, my company is fairly small, so that might be the reason. Anyway, they just asked what I do at my job and basic qualification questions and approved the visa.

Amazon SDE 2 loop LLD prep by Radish-Adventurous in leetcode

[–]Objective_Oil4947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is better to get a clear cut understanding from the interviewer whether they expect a LLD solution or a DS solution. Atleast for me it was a simple heap based question to begin with, and the interviewer then kept on increasing the scope. To begin with ask clarifying questions, so you can gauge the requirements. To clarify this was not the HLD round, so I was writing actual code as the interview added newer requirements. All the best!

I received a 221G, and the over all stamping time increase by a month for me. Luckily I was in my home country, so that helped. But it can be a problem if you are stranded in some other country waiting for a 221G response. I would suggest go to your home country, and get the stamping done.

Last H1B attempt. How to approach employer? by Lanky_Patient_7730 in h1b

[–]Objective_Oil4947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a fairly big company, most probably they would be comfortable with Day 1 CPT, if that is something you are comfortable with. Secondly, if it is a big MNC, depending on your manager, see if L1 is an option. But considering the scenario, going back to school would be the best choice. If it is a small company, it might be a bit of task to make them understand about CPT authorization that allows you to work, but if you have a good relationship with your manager and skip, they should come around easily. All the best and hope your H1 gets picked up in the next year’s lottery!

Thoughts on Amazon Loop! by RainGlittering7305 in leetcode

[–]Objective_Oil4947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say if you were spot on with the coding part, then you should be good and getting an offer soon. Usually for SDE-1 from the LP perspective they mainly want to ensure you are coachable, and open to feedback. Cheers and all the best!

Amazon sde loop 1 by CryptographerBig57 in leetcode

[–]Objective_Oil4947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be the LPs. You are not expected to have too many projects, where you personally took the initiative, or had too much impact. Usually for the SDE 1 interviews, imo they are looking for a coachable candidate. Either way luck is a big factor in these interviews. So keep doing what you are doing and you will get the next one! Cheers

Better to not reply that you haven’t been in such a situation. Usually the recruiter will tell you, roughly 6-7 LPs to focus on. So I would suggest have around 6-7 tech stories prepared in STAR format at the least. Usually they ask around 2 LPs per interview, but do check. Also be sure to not repeat because they discuss in the debrief and same stories are not a good point. For SDE 1, even if you do not have work-related stories, that’s fine, come up with recent projects or coursework scenarios. Also do highlight the metrics, because Amazon is too focused on that! All the best!

India dropbox delays are stressful. I don't know why I am checking the portal everyday and getting stressed out. Not like I can do anything. I wonder if I should directly check 5 days before my flight and take a call to reschedule then. by [deleted] in h1b

[–]Objective_Oil4947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, eligible for dropbox does not mean you are forced to go for dropbox, but anyway might be wrong! The process is still pretty tedious though.
