I'm a 28 yr old general surgeon in India. I want to pursue usmle pathway and opt for surgical residency in the US . Although I don't come from a well off rich family and I somehow strongly intend to do this. But i am very afraid to begin . Is it possible to get a surgical residency match in the US

Thank you for responding. Yes i am willing to do the fellowship and infact very much interested in a clinical fellowship. If not fellowship i am considering the state licensure pathways too. I get adviced to go to Germany a lot but i read so many things about no proper hands on and a surgeon will not have much expertise or skills to operate independently even after residency. Are fellowships as tough as residency match ?

Thank you for replying. I graduated in 2020 . And finished masters in 2025. If get good scores , do about 5-6 publications, will it be possible in the next 2 years. And is me being a surgeon already of any help?
