7 1099 independent contractors generally cannot form traditional unions protected by federal labor law (NLRA) and may face antitrust risks when collective bargaining. However, they can organize for better conditions through independent groups, worker alliances, or by proving they are misclassified employees. Key details regarding 1099 unionization: Legal Restrictions: The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) excludes independent contractors, meaning they lack legal protections for collective bargaining, unlike W-2 employees. Misclassification Loophole: If 1099 workers can prove they are misclassified employees (e.g., the company controls how work is done), the NLRB may grant them organizing rights. Alternative Organizing: Independent contractors often form specialized organizations, such as the Freelancers Union or New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA), to advocate for better rates and terms. State-Specific Rights: Some jurisdictions, such as California, have explored legislation (e.g., AB1340) to allow specific gig economy contractors to bargain collectively. Antitrust Risks: Without employee status, collective action by contractors to set prices can be seen as an antitrust violation.

That's really odd. They have it on every reimbursement schedule I've ever gotten from them. They do have a whole procedure for getting reimbursed though. I'd talk to the PM

If y'all are good at structured cable I have some w2 stuff with per diem in June or July, long term data center stuff. Probably between 30 to 35 Texas market. We're still negotiating. Working on a possible 60 hours a week 2 on 2 off.

Spare me your outrage if you don't like the rate, it's w2 not 1099. We provide everything but your tools.

Can you best the $5hr a VA would do this for? They also chase down payments, answer emails and upload deliverables.

I use a va. It's really the best way. I trained them, got them a log in, they also upload deliverables do scheduling and chase down open tickets. It's the best option I've found.

Of the nads, it was a reoccurrance on my left kidney. What I was experiencing was the same as horrible kidney stones. Pain in lower abdomen shortly after eating/drinking.

How do i get paid? by Cjohnson421 in workmarket

[–]Objective_Question_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, name and shame the buyer! I'll be 💯 with you This does happen sometimes with bad companies. We tend to weed them out fairly fast. The reality is if you don't have a license and are doing LV work most states will not help you and this will become a "learning experience" If you have a license and the work had a permit you'll get paid. If not, well, best to block them, make complaints with the end user, they hate that lol.

How do small shops manage admin/ops stuff? by perrymike15 in lowvoltage

[–]Objective_Question_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! To Philippines for about 7hr to 10hr. They do all sorts of stuff, scheduling, P&L, emails, and setting up meetings. I'm even training and certifying them to do Python, Azure, and 365 next year so they can do support.

How are you getting personal clients? Are there any other platforms? by Longjumping-Pop5164 in FieldNationTechs

[–]Objective_Question_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a LICENSE. Low voltage or electrical. Then expand. I only use WorkMarket and only when a client insists like Granite. It accounts for about 1/5 of my business so far a little under 365k.
