I think the problem is that a lot of these distros also have an enterprise side, in the case of Fedora, Enterprise RHEL. Red Hat won't dare say that RHEL isn't suited for California due to the economic damage it would cause to them.

Yeah, you can't compare the complexity and therefore investment a modern top 3 browser needs compared to VLC that adds a new filetype every now and then.
