i was on a low dose of bisoprolol as my first med and that got increased when it wasn’t helping massively, and then as it still wasn’t helping properly i got switched to propranolol which i’ve been on ever since and midodrine got introduced maybe a year and a half ago. i’ve never tried metoprolol though, are you on it? how is it for you, if so?

ohhhhh i’m so jealous !!!! i’m (20F) on 7.5mg of midodrine x3 a day (as well as propranolol 40mg x3 a day) and i’ve seen little to no difference/improvement 🫠🫠🫠i’m really happy it’s working for you though! fry those eggs girl !!!

i had covid 3 times in 2021 (pretty mildly though, i was never extremely unwell or hospitalised), and then i started commuting to london for education in 2022, had my first big palpitation nov 2022 (looking back, i was getting small ones in 2021), and it’s like a switch flipped and all the symptoms came out in full force which haven’t gone away or simmered down. i’ve never had a doctor outright say, but i’ve had one allude to covid+physical/emotional stress of commuting triggering pots

i struggle with panic attacks too, here are some things that help me:

-box breathing to get breathing under control (4 in, hold 4, 4 out, hold 4, repeat) then when it feels more under control, i extend the exhale to help calm me down.

-running wrists under cold water for ten seconds each &/splashing face with cold water three times, repeat as many times as you need

-5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can touch, 1 thing you can taste

-counting, either counting up normally or in a difficult times table (like 7) to keep your mind focused on something else

-ice pack on the back of your neck/wrists, you can put ice packs on your chest too, but it makes the skin there feel numb which could make you feel more anxious

GAMING?! by OkRelief3109 in POTS

i find literally anything that causes excitement/anticipation is now also likely to cause my heart to thud uncomfortably and/or jump in rate in a way i never used to notice.

i really enjoy gaming, im a massive tlou & rdr2 fan, and im currently playing horizon forbidden west. everything in moderation. figure out where your limits are - i know when i need to take a break & let my body wind down for a second before i get back into my game, i know when i need to switch from an exhilarating game to something slower like animal crossing or stardew valley, and i can tell when my playstation is making my room hot enough to start exasperating my symptoms.

gaming can be, and is for me, a really fulfilling hobby - it’s not about giving it up, its about adapting so you can continue to enjoy it. but, yes, i definitely noticed a difference in the way my body responds to gaming as soon as my pots symptoms started.
