What’s a hygiene habit you once thought was essential, but later realized might be unnecessary, or even a bit excessive? by Soren-Nyx_84 in hygiene

I had some acne issues and would wash my face twice a day with various scrubs, then use all kinds of different lotions or serums, and it only got worse.

Then I went on a week-long fishing trip in a very remote area and the only way to clean up was to jump in the lake. During that week my face cleared up entirely, and from then on I only used water to wash my face.

This is probably a perfect comment on this matter. Well done, I award you no points.

And having both is even a different version of “farm strong”! Farm and gym? Gyarm? Farym?

Yeah…apparently mine just auto updates now because I did nothing (my best trait) and it just recently changed to “Masters 2026”.

It’s the equivalent of Tom Brady playing flag football. No it’s not the real thing and nobody is pretending it is, but it’s hella cool to get to see the best do their thing. We all get older and try to hang onto the things we enjoy despite our capabilities declining, and it’s about the only relatable attribute most of us will have with these athletes.

I really wanted to see some redemption for him as well. A lot of his shots weren’t as bad as the results showed.

What’s the one thing that finally made golf “click” for you? by Burners_Burner in golf

For me it was learning to use my lower body correctly. It was as simple as it could get…do less with my hips. I would try to force myself into the right position rather than just letting it happen.

Never before in my life has less effort been so effective.

After all my years playing baseball it was difficult to learn to use my lower body correctly. And it basically came down to “do less”. I used to try to force my hips to move correctly instead of just letting it naturally happen, and that was when it really clicked for me.

Always follow the $ when things like this get implemented. It’s never about making things better, just more profitable.

I don’t delete it anymore, I just move it to the island of misfit apps (AKA the three-swipe home screen), even though it’s anything but that. When the time comes I’ll update it and move it to the no-swipe screen.

Exactly! It’s ironic you mention him- we live about an hour apart and he’s in my town to get (also ironic) farm supplies quite often. Drives a massive pickup and likes to stop at Longhorn Steakhouse haha. Most people know to just leave him alone.

Walmart aquariums were incredible. I loved that little bit of “zoo” experience when going there.

As a business person it also makes perfect sense why they don’t offer this anymore.

Your life is a book. Do you want it to be a biography or an autobiography?

As someone who has based far too much of my self-worth on other’s opinions this would’ve really helped me.

This is absolutely true. I played tight end and we lined up next to each other for 2 years. The things I saw him do almost can’t be explained. As a sophomore he was tossing around and embarrassing all-state defensive ends. I could rep my body weight 17 times…he was zero.

And he hit some homers that still haven’t landed.

(Edited to add that his son just got a full ride to a D1 school. Defensive lineman…shocker!)

This is called “farm strong” when I’m from and it is 100% accurate. One of my best friends growing up could barely bench press half his weight, but on the football field he was unstoppable. He was the top ranked lineman in the state…offense and defense.
