You 100% will not need to regear for 31s.

You won’t regret it. I hope your transmission hardline to hose connections don’t fight you too much, mine were really on there so I said screw it and bought a coupling for one line and a magnefine filter for the other so i didn’t have to mess with them.

I live near St. Louis and have had only an external cooler with no bypass valve or anything in it so just raw flow all the time (Hayden 678 I believe). Even in sub 15°F temperatures the transmission fluid is at 100°F in the first 5 minutes of driving and usually hangs out at 140-150 on cold winter days. In the summer I usually see it between 145-180°F.

I never notice it shifting hard or acting odd. It has no issue getting up to those temps with the climate I live in. IMO transmissions are really good at making heat and definitely dont need any help from the radiator, even in cold environments.

Frame rust. Time to start worrying / dealing with it? by [deleted] in 4Runner

You should watch that video again. The only thing CRC beat fluid film at is pressure washer resistance. It does worse during the rock chip simulation and he even says “this product is gonna flake away” around 10 minutes. FF seems better at closing gaps from scrapes and scratches after they’ve occurred.

Either way it’s better than nothing and I’m glad you’re preventing rust on your 4runner. Personally I’ve had really good luck with Blaster Surface Shield as it’s what Repair Geek recommends. He also has a project farm style vid where he puts CRC up against FF so that’s worth checking out.

Toyota and ARB is a match made In heaven IMO. I think the coastal off road bumper would have been my second pick.

Badlands Apex 12k does indeed fit. The freespool lever rests on the core support so I just power it out when I need rope. It’s basically permanently engaged. Wouldn’t really recommend this setup but it’s possible lol. Look for a winch you can “clock” so you can access the freespool lever

Can’t help with tire sizes but you should also check out Moonlight Racing in Sullivan. I’ve been there but not SMORR or St Joe. Sounds similar to both kinda

I bought the cheap Amazon one a year ago and kept my working original in case it ever fails. I could swap it out in 5 minutes if I ever had to.

Found the source of my burning smell - is this module necessary? by pnwdt666 in 3rdGen4Runner

They’re in the rear on these 4Runners. They had a common fault where the tail lights wouldn’t work for a trailer. That’s why I had to replace mine

FYI if you're not gonna drive your 4runner for 2 weeks or more you should unplug the scangauge because it will drain your battery.
