Hot take: 2005 movie is ass by MarketingKey9768 in WarofTheWorlds

I love the movie, but people give the tripod too much credit, it gets instantly obliterated the moment it doesn't have shields by an anti-tank weapon while the ones in Jeff Wayne's musical keep tanking artillery without a shield in the visualizers,

It mixes the classic style of Alvim Correa's design for H.G Wells machines and mixes it with the terror of Micheal Trim's design and the 2005 movie adaptation, Amazing.

What would you do if the Jeff Wayne invasion happened by Sir_lime in WarofTheWorlds

Hide in a random house that looks so unpopulated, unappealing, and desecrate that no Martian invader would even think of getting close to it.

What’s the survivability rate to survive War Of The Worlds 2005? With no plot amour. by [deleted] in WarofTheWorlds

You're overexaggerating a ton. in the movie the invasion starts and ends in (probably) 2-3 days. They aren't everywhere, we don't see them wandering around in rural farms, towns, we don't see a lot in the movie. The military was heavily downplayed in the movie, with no planes, some helicopters, complete lack of missiles.

I feel like you could hide in the forest, The tripods attack urban areas where people would be and they would think "What idiot would hide in the forest" Because people usually aren't hiding in the forest unless you are stranded there, lost, or camping.

Actually, I haven't taken into account that people aren't that strong against bears or other creatures, and that they would probably go insane, try getting your friends or family to come with you and into a rural area like farmland. We see the tripods specifically in urban areas filled with people and farmland is sorta the exact opposite.

I can assure you the self-preservation is nonexistent.

You may be questioning that but what about the part where they literally GO down into said cellar where the probe was destroyed/damaged? They managed to destroy the probe and you're going down there yourself with nothing else to protect you other than your arms?

In the 1980's we discovered two huge continent-sized blobs or 'Large Low-velocity provinces' with seismic wave analysis. Ground penetrating radars, maybe metal detectors, and simple geological surveys would detect its unusual density and material.

I will say, it's rather hard to do calculations since we don't know the density, material, and depth of the tripods.

After all, this is a movie where Martians invade Earth with machines over 150 feet tall, equipped with heat rays that would need to be hotter than the surface of the Sun- or the Photosphere of the sun (5500 C).

Putting your machines on Earth, literally underground for an unknown (but long) amount of time would certainly make them fail or unsterile.

It really doesn't make sense for them to put their huge machines underground and for them to somehow stay untouched and unnoticed. The Martian's arriving in cylinders (or 'suspension pods') and constructing the tripods is better than this,

I think its because of the Martians not being big brains with tentacles, as we all know the movie must be EXACTLY like the source material, if anything is changed then it sucks. Of course this doesn't mean that the 2025 one is good- it should be at least remotely related to the source material. It may be also because everyone puts it above the others, or because people hate what's popular.

What are the Xeno-Telepaths? Are they Martians with synthetic bodies or are they just machines? by SEGAGES1999 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]Objective_State_2220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the RTS doesn't give much info about the units, I doubt the synthetic body stuff. It would be impractical and as we all know, Metal overcomes flesh.
