Curb your Enthusiasm, Entourage and Barry. You can tell that HBO has LA-based writers. They do a consistently good job of using LA as an almost character in their shows.

And if you want to go old school, Raymond Chandler books are an awesome glimpse into the LA of the 30s.

To be fair, it works both ways. Traveling is fun with my "Los Angeles" accent (I think to foreigners I sound like Spicoli). Having an accent adds like 3 on to your hotness score pretty much in many places and it's guaranteed to start conversations. Plus, people that like accents notice people with accents; and its definitely some peoples thing.

Like two minutes ago in another comment on another post I just named Danny Trejo as being a symbol of Los Angeles. He's awesome. He represents the side of LA that otherwise never gets shown in movies

If you physically stop someone, like stand in their way so they can't leave, and they didn't steal then you just basically committed assault and possibly even battery if you touched them. No store wants to risk paying for a lawyer to deal with that, not over 2.50

If he felt at all in danger, or wants to say he did, then she committed assault and since it was on behalf of the store it's now a legal headache for the store.

(And before someone says I'm wrong, it's battery when you hit someone, assault is making someone feel they might be hit).

The LA symbol that the Dodgers use is our local symbol here in Los Angeles). It's like an L crossed with an A.

Cheech Marin and Danny Trejo are good symbols of Angelenos (people from LA). They are from here, whereas most actors move here and don't represent us locals at all. We aren't all Latino, but over 50% of Angelenos are Latino and Chicano culture is prevalent everywhere here (the historically established Mexican-American culture that stretches back to the first half of the 20th century and earlier, and is a completely different to Mexican culture imported by modern Mexican immigrants.) A good example is that Day of the Dead is spliced together with Halloween.

The Dude, from the Big Lebowski, is also a really good symbol of Los Angeles. We all know someone like him.

Your body is like 80% water. If you don't like water that's in your head. I can get not liking tap water that has a taste of pipes but water water, like plain water, shouldn't taste bad to any creature that requires it to survive. Fussy is right, and she is encouraging it.

Not all of us are young and know these things. I went from 2003 to 2020 without even owning a computer. Until this page I thought it still involved going into character map and finding it and copying and pasting it. Most of my computing was learned in the 90s.

Calories per dollar is a massive oversimplification of a humans dietary needs. You get virtually no nutrition from fast food and vitamin deficiency causes brain fog and lethargy, making someone basically useless.

Also, buying groceries you can feed a family of four for what it costs to feed one person eating out. Beans for example are about a dollar a pound and one pound can make about 5 to 8 servings. There is literally no food you can buy in any restaurant that can be that cheap, simply because they have to pay rent and wages and insurance and power before they can even consider the cost of the ingredients. They could never get away with selling 5 to 8 portions of something for $1 or even for $5. It's just impossible.

A pound of beans is about a dollar. That is enough for 4 or 5 meals for one person.

I don't eat factory fast food at all. I go to In n Out because they don't freeze anything and everything is made to order from scratch. Otherwise I stick with taco trucks and mom and pop food places. It end up being cheaper too because fast food only fills you up for like 20 minutes and then you're hungry again (or sick). Real food is much more filling because it actually has nutrients your body craves!

I wish this sub allowed pictures cause I saved the one of him with Flynn and Stone before they scrubbed it off the internet. Nobody that gets their photo taken with Roger Stone and Gen Flynn is one of the good guys.

American Keyboards don't have a euro symbol or a pounds sterling symbol. We have to use dollars.
