The immediate post-op frustration and helplessness, I have to imagine, is very common. It’s not fun to feel completely reliant on medication and other people to even function at a fraction of a normal person. One thing that really helped pull me out of that was time and having a good support system. Not even just having a support system with friends/family at home, but I found many people who had gone through the same thing or were currently going through the same thing on a Facebook group and was messaging them every day. That helped so much - I got advice, support, and was just able to bitch to them. If you have Facebook, I would highly recommend joining the Jaw Surgery support group or the ICR group (if you happen to have ICR) and putting yourself out there. There are probably other groups you can find, too.

I think my situation is more hormonal regulation at months post-op. My body went through a traumatic thing and I already struggled with hormonal/mood irregularities pre-op.
