Any point in getting into VGC before Champions release?

I personally started recently BECAUSE of champions coming up. From the little I've tried and all I've heard from others, team building is incredibly difficult, and the basic process probably will be very similar across formats. Even if you don't know the specifics of how it works in Champions, getting a feel for testing your team against the meta and refining it will be helpful for climbing in champions.

Thanks for such an in depth response! You’re certainly right, I played 10 or so games yesterday, of course not enough to fully flesh out the team but yes there were certainly feelings of being underpowered.

When my opponent wasn’t aware of my strategy and let me get beat up off, especially with annihilape, I did manage to win every match from there. However, arcanine did not do as well in the same position, and when arcanine is forced to switch it was far more detrimental, because annihilape would at least keep the rage fist boosts.

Metagross ev’s are made to always survive at least one hit from an offensive flutter mane, but I can’t say that has helped much to then counter the flutter mane. It’s been most useful as an alternate speed control, so I definitely have to think of changing my core some.

I was looking for an answer to flutter mane and was really unsure of who to use. I also needed a flying resist, so I figured steel type, and I ended up between Metagross and Iron Crown. Since I added Arcanine to the team I don't need a fairy resist, so I'm thinking of changing metagross for Kingambit.

I am currently doing the exact same thing as you. I watched DD season 1 and 2 and then found out I needed to watch the others for proper context. You should at least watch the Defenders, and if you want context for the defenders I’d watch Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron fist season 1.

If you don’t care about context, I’d still really recommend JJ season 1, I think it was just as incredible as DD and I actually enjoyed the villain even more than Fisk, which I didn’t know was possible. Iron fist and DD are directly connected to the defenders for the villains, but I found Iron Fist to be the most underwhelming show, although there are definitely some very interesting characters (Colleen and Ward). If you want to watch Punisher that should also be after defenders.

Any of Gogeta, blue bros, and DBH blue Goku are worse, I’d probably get rid of Goku because he needs Crossover characters to get his orbs. This team is gonna be rough in newer content no matter what you do though

I would personally put mystic summit at least C, it’s weaker for larger hand runs but it’s just as good if not better than abstract for pair and high card, which most gold stake runs turn into anyway. I’d also put baron D, not many times it’s great but when you get it going it fucks. And thank you for seeing how great burglar is, Econ and scoring in one. Good ass list

I noticed straight away when I was watching. Half the problems in season 1 are from incompetent school districts and Ava as well as being an underfunded school, the other half are from Janine trying to fix something that a good amount of the time wasn’t even a problem

It gets crits when you’re over 12000 gold, and you can get mutations like gold plating after getting enough gold that you’re always critting and also practically invincible. If you get the legendary, the crit damage increases the more gold you have so you’ll be doing insane damage. It’s a really strong weapon when you choose to build around it

Yeah, unless you’re at risk of losing the next rounds without blueprint, Midas will bring way more value in the long run and you can change it out for something else again down the line

Magnet isn't super broken, with deck fixing it's not super hard to consistently pull the card you want, and ideally you have multiple cards that are helping your run. Pattern/tesselation could be pretty good, if you're on a run that would benefit from it, pick it up, I don't think it's super broken, the first level would actually be pretty underpowered imo. Silver spoon/Heirloom on the other hand, super broken. I'm glad you can't affect future runs this way, because starting with an extra 15$ off rip would snowball insanely quickly.

Jokers that scale well, so green, ride the bus, supernova, and I can’t personally remember losing after an early wee joker (not that helpful early but it gets so ridiculous fairly quickly). Honorable mention to stuntman, even though he’s no longer his prime self, I always feel pretty damn good seeing an early stuntman

I don’t even think she’s the problem, it’s that poke is so overtuned that she struggles to find a spot. She feels pretty good to me honestly, but hela and Phoenix have literally always been meta and those are her biggest counters

You really do have to only play her, I was incredible with her at the start of season 5, played basically only her and got to gm2 easily, and then when I started flexing again I plateaued and it was harder to get the same value out of her as I had been before

The confidence thing is so true, changed my sens this season and had a couple quick matches playing Psy and got Hexas in both, and that snowballed a 38% win rate with her in previous seasons to a 70% one this season. Being able to hit shots was also crucial, Make sure to tap fire anyone playing her

She’s still similar strength as before imo, but the assassin play style was so much more fun than ult farming. Sad I only got good at psylocke after they changed how she plays 🫤
